Heather Kokubun Prayer Letter: My Cup Overflows!I had just finished my lunch and walked back outside. School had just let out, so kids were everywhere, just “hanging out.” There were a few around my car, so I grabbed my tracts to pass them out. The kids took interest immediately as I struck up a conversation with them and joked about where I was from. No one ever believes that I’m Peruvian, although my heart sure feels like it at times! As I explained where I was from, I went straight into why I came to this country and began sharing Christ with them. The kids listened extra intently as I shared the Gospel. As I was speaking to them, another girl jumped from her group of friends and stood in the middle of our group saying, “I want to listen too!” I was able to finish sharing the Gospel with them, and all five of them bowed their heads to receive Him as their Saviour. God is so good! Please pray they will come to church soon!

Following our Ladies’ Conference, I have been thrilled to host a new ladies’ Bible study each Thursday evening. I have been blessed with 13-15 ladies and many children attending each week! The Lord seems to be growing each and every one in their walk with Him. I love seeing their excitement to learn and grow more in Him. God is really lighting a fire in our midst spiritually, and who knows what He’ll continue to do in our future! “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.” (I Corinthians 2:9)

My cup overflows!! July 13-15, we celebrated our sixth anniversary!! Pastor Gomez, the Spanish Pastor at First Baptist Church of Hammond, came and preached for three days to celebrate! We were able to complete most of the construction on the church the very same week, so we dedicated the building to the Lord the same weekend! Churches from the area attended on both Friday and Saturday nights, and Sunday we were blessed to have a crowd of almost 400 people! We killed seven goats and had plenty of food to go around. Even more exciting was the fact that we had 24 visitors, 18 of whom got saved. A huge answer to prayer for us is that the owner of the property and his live-in girlfriend have begun attending our services, and she was recently saved! We’re praying the Lord will open the door for us to be able to buy the whole property someday!

The day after our anniversary, I flew into Hammond, accepting an opportunity to speak to their ladies and girls at Youth Conference! It was a quick four days to be in the States, but I praise the Lord for yet another opportunity to share His unfailing goodness with so many.

This July 27-28, we will host our first Youth Conference! Would you pray the Lord will do great and mighty things through these two days? Also, August 3-4, I have been asked to speak at a Ladies’ Conference in Lima. I will speak five different times!! I do covet your prayers that many a heart will be drawn toward the One Who loves with unfailing love.

All for Jesus,

Heather Kokubun
