Charles Osgood Prayer Letter: Opportunities to Preach in Ghana and Sierra LeoneThank you for your prayers and support!

School Preaching

During the month of February, I was able to preach at a junior high school that one of our church members attends. I preached for four weeks, explaining how to go to Heaven from the Bible. At the end of the four weeks, we gave them salvation booklets to complete to help them get established in the faith. Some of the students have completed their booklets, and some have placed their faith in Christ for their salvation! Praise the Lord!

Soul Winning

It such a blessing to be able to share the Gospel with people here in Ghana! While soul winning in Barekuma in March, we met three teenage boys. All three believed that they had to obey God’s laws to go to Heaven. As we preached the Gospel to them, they could not believe what they were hearing. One boy commented that if what we were saying was true, then their pastors were lying to them. All of them chose to believe on Jesus! Please pray for Abraham, Peter, and Francis to grow. Abraham has already completed a discipleship lesson and has a great desire to know God’s Word.

On Saturday mornings, I have been soul winning to students at a nearby university. At one off-campus residence where students live, I have recently been able to lead three men to Christ: Reginald, who attends a Presbyterian church; Emmanuel, who attends Deeper Life Bible Church; and Randolf, who attends a Charismatic church. All three believed that they had to be righteous and obey God’s laws to get to Heaven. After hearing the truth, they all chose to believe on Christ! Please pray that these three young men will choose to follow Christ and come to a church that preaches the truth.

A few weeks ago, I was invited to speak to a group of Baptist students at an early Sunday morning service at the university. This group is led by the Ghana Baptist Convention. At the beginning of my message, I asked for all those who knew for sure they would go to Heaven when they died to raise their hands. I was shocked when only a few hands went up. Many of the students believe they can lose your salvation if they sin after they are saved. (I later found that they have had debates over eternal security in the past, with a majority of the students believing they can lose their salvation.) I am so glad to be an independent, fundamental Baptist who knows that salvation is eternal and cannot be lost!

Expanding Influence

Recently, I received an invitation from Pastor Solomon Gorvie, who pastors in Freetown, Sierra Leone, to come and preach at his Youth and Singles’ Conference. Pastor Gorvie received training at an independent Baptist church here in Ghana and now leads a fellowship of about 23 churches in Sierra Leone. We had the privilege of having him and another pastor from Sierra Leone at our church for about two weeks in March. We were very encouraged by the steadfastness of these men. Pastor Gorvie read the book I wrote on sexual purity and has asked me to come and teach the young people at their annual conference, which is August 28-30 of this year. I believe this is a great opportunity to impact many youth and many churches for Christ. I would like to go and also give a copy of my book to all who attend the conference.

The cost for this trip will be about US$900. Please pray about contributing to this need. If you would like to contribute, you can write a check to FBMI and put in the memo section: #6180-Sierra Leone Trip. You can also donate online by going to fbmi.org/give and then selecting Ghana Special Projects 6180. In the “other comments” blank, put Sierra Leone Trip. Any amount you can give would be greatly appreciated.

God bless,

Charles, Lindsey, and Josiah Osgood
