JOHN HAYS

SERVING WITH HAYS PURE WATER

ABOUT

John Birthday 12/06

I grew up in church. I do not remember ever hearing the Gospel. It was in college that I was asked what the Cross of Jesus meant to me. I did not know.  I studied the Bible and realized He loved me and died for my sins. I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Saviour on September 21, 1974. I was baptized shortly after in the university swimming pool. I am now a member of and sent out of Marion Avenue Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Joseph Brown.

Farming was my god, but I followed Christ’s calling to enter public water treatment for three decades, starting in 1980 till 2010. He placed on my heart the need to invent and distribute a water-treatment system in 2004. I believe these Scriptures for my ministry:  Matthew 25:35 and John 4.  I serve Jesus in each thirsty person and witness to offer living water. I am in my second decade of this ministry. God has let me manufacture 5,000 systems and distribute them in 50 countries. In Sudan, Africa, for example, 1,200 villages were given both waters.  More information and testimonies can be found at Hays Pure Water.

I began working in the ministry in 2005 and have seen many in 50 countries in 5,000 villages saved, grow in Christ, and become fruitful soul winners. My burden is to reach more around the world with both drinking and living water and to train them to become effective and fruitful soul winners. I have developed and manufacture a water machine that perfectly treats water for up to 5,000 people for several decades.

My desire is to work with the missionaries of Fundamental Baptist Missions International and assist them in planting churches. I want to see people saved and then train them to become soul winners. In addition, I have a strong burden to reach their entire village for Christ. This will be most effective through the water ministry-serving missionaries.

This will take much labor and sacrifice. I am ready to reach more of the world. I invite you to pray and consider partnering with me in this effort through your prayers and finances. Please contact me if you would allow me to share my burden and calling with you and your church.

If I can serve you in any way, please allow me to do so.

In 2006, after traveling around developing nations on missions trips, John Hays was burdened to create a low cost, portable solution for water purification. After reading the historical account of Elisha cleansing the water of Jericho in II Kings 2, John put his 30+ years of experience with municipal water works to use and developed the Khlor Gen system.

Through the years, the design and look has been changed and improved, but the mission has stayed the same. Provide people with clean water, reaching out to them through word and deed. Eight years and 4,000 units later, that mission continues full steam ahead.

  • John Hays Prayer Letter: A Shower of Grace in a Dry LandThe Congo Testimony: A Work Beyond Words

The work of God through the Pure Water for All ministry is not simply about installing water systems—it is a living testimony of divine mercy poured into thirsty lives. What began years ago as a small act of faith continues to ripple outward, transforming entire communities in Africa, Asia, and beyond.

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, this work has become a light in dark places:

    • A sacrificial service that goes beyond words
    • A channel of divine grace to reach souls
    • A manifestation of God’s hand of love and mercy
    • A shower of grace upon a dry land
    • A seed of life in a field of trials
    • An open door that despair had closed
    • A love that fills hearts with hope once emptied by fear

Through this ministry, difficulties once caused by disease have become opportunities for the Gospel to flourish. Each new well and each Pure Water system becomes more than technology; they are instruments of salvation. Where sickness once reigned, testimonies now rise; where despair once lived, joy has come.

Pastor Isaac, who oversees the work in Congo, shares:

Dear Friends, it is very hard for us to explain in writing all that God does through Pure Water for All in Central Africa. If you could meet our people and see the kind of water we were using before, you would join us in saying, “Thank You, God, and thank you, Pure Water Ministry!” We are eyewitnesses of His mercy.

July 2025 Mission to Western Congo

In July, the Lord led our team to the western region of the DRC—a six-day mission that turned into a living miracle. The journey was rugged, but every challenge became a testimony. By the time we returned home, more than 500 souls had accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, and one new church had been planted.

The connection between clean water and the Gospel once again proved unbreakable. As villagers gathered to receive Pure Water for their homes, they also received the Living Water that satisfies eternally.

    Pastor Isaac writes:

Even now, the results of that mission keep giving us words of thanksgiving. The impact has not stopped. God used Pure Water for All and the preaching of His Word to bring revival to families that once had no hope. One church stands today as a testimony that the Word of God and practical love go hand in hand.

Looking Ahead: The Central African Conference

Next month, a Central African Conference will bring together over 1,500 believers and church leaders from villages, regions, and neighboring countries. Pure Water for All will play a vital role, both in logistics and in ministry. Water systems will be demonstrated, hygiene training will be shared, and pastors will testify to what God has done.

This gathering will not merely be an event; it will be a convergence of gratitude and faith. The testimonies already shared in the Congo give us confidence that the Lord will multiply the harvest again. As Pastor Isaac reminds us: “Please, we need your hands. The work is great, but the Lord is greater. Pray with us that this year’s testimonies will surpass all others.”

A Word from Pastor Pululu Déjà

Pastor Pululu Déjà, one of the leaders in Western Congo, wrote a heartfelt letter after the July mission. His words capture the emotion that statistics can never express:

    Dear Pastor Isaac,

Your coming to us in the western region was not only a visit; it was a mission trip that opened a door and planted a seed of peace, hope, salvation, and joy in our hearts. The free gift of a Pure Water system did more than meet a physical need; it rekindled in us the flame of faith and trust in God.

Our church continues to grow day by day, and people continually thank Pure Water for All for helping us have clean water to use. Though many still lack, the need remains great, but we are full of hope, knowing that God is not finished yet.”
Such words echo the heart of this ministry: clean water, yes, but even more, revived hearts and renewed faith.

    Peru Report: Building and Believing

The mission never stops at one continent’s border. The same week that the Congo team returned, another Pure Water crew journeyed to Iquitos, Peru—a frontier city deep in the Amazon basin.

Zach Foust Jr., who led the trip, shares:

We traveled with a group of men from Beth Haven Baptist Church in Sheridan, Michigan, to help our national pastor friend, Romario Bustamante, build a new church. These men are skilled construction workers, and God blessed their hands—we built the entire structure in just six days!

During that time, we also traveled down the Amazon to a new village, where I preached the Gospel. The villagers were so receptive. Many accepted Christ, and we installed a new Pure Water for All system. It was humbling to see people drink safe water for the first time and rejoice in the Lord together.

From Congo to Peru, the pattern is the same: the physical act of bringing clean water opens the spiritual door to eternal life.

Nepal Update: Grace Through the Monsoon

Half a world away, in the mountains and plains of Nepal, God has been equally faithful.

    Our partners there reported:

    Beloved Family, Friends, and Neighbors,

In our last newsletter (July), we asked you to pray for the 408 partnering churches carrying out the Safe Water ministry during the summer monsoon. By God’s grace, the damages from heavy rains were slight, especially in the most populated regions. Our pre-monsoon village hygiene training multiplied the benefits of the ministry—reducing diarrheal sickness and cholera and increasing testimonies of praise to the Lord Jesus Christ.

Despite storms, landslides, and floods, the faith of God’s people held strong. Clean water systems survived. Churches stood as centers of hope, offering both purified water and purified hearts. The Nepal team reminds us that even when nature rages, God’s mercy flows stronger.

    One Mission, Many Streams

Whether in the Congo jungle, the Peruvian Amazon, or the Himalayan foothills, the vision remains the same: to make clean water and the Living Water of Christ available to all.

Every water system delivered, every hygiene training, every bucket filled becomes a sermon without words. The people who once walked hours for a single bucket of contaminated water now lift up their voices in praise. The children who once fell ill now run and play. The mothers who once wept now sing.

This ministry is more than mechanics—it is a living river of grace.

    How You Can Help

As we prepare for the Central African Conference and new field projects around the world, we ask for your continued partnership:

    1. Pray – for strength, safety, and open hearts in every region we serve.
    2. Give – every donation provides more systems, more outreach, more testimonies.
    3. Share – tell others what God is doing through Pure Water for All. Your words can inspire others to join the flow of blessing.

Your prayers and generosity keep the mission alive. Together, we are touching lives one village, one family, one drop at a time.

    Closing Thoughts

From Pastor Isaac and Pastor Pululu in Congo, to Brother Zach Foust in Peru, to our faithful partners in Nepal, the refrain is the same: “To God be the glory; great things He has done.”

As we look toward the coming months, our prayer is simple: that the living waters of God’s love will continue to spring up wherever Pure Water for All goes. The wells may be physical, but the impact is eternal.

Thank you for standing with us, believing with us, and laboring with us—until every village knows both clean water and the cleansing power of Jesus Christ.

    God’s water boy,
