In the month of June, our church sponsored its 4th Annual SMITE (Student Missions Institute for Training in Evangelism) Training Camp. The main focus of this program is to train young people to conduct Bible Clubs for children. Missionary Pastor Mark Holmes, Pastor Adewale Adesina, Pastor Babatunde Ajayi, and Pastor Akinwumi Olabiyi traveled from Nigeria to be with us. This is their fourth year of coming to train us in this ministry. We are thankful for their influence.
We had 117 campers enrolled and conducted 19 different Bible Clubs for 5 days. During the week, 1,335 different children attended the Bible Clubs. Many of them confessed faith in Jesus Christ. Each night, we had inspirational preaching, and many young people made life-changing decisions. Twelve workers were recognized for completing all four levels of the program. We launched a Bible Club Ministry in our church due to this training and the interest that has been shown from our church people. Nearly every week, we have children visiting our church as a result of these clubs, and a father and mother of one of the children have started attending faithfully. Our team family-in-focus this month is the Christiansens. Brother Micah Christiansen is our children’s pastor and the principal of our Christian school. He conducts a Bible Club each week.
