Team Ghana Update: Reaching the ChildrenYour faithful prayers and support are helping us reach out to precious Ghanaian children.

Vacation Bible School: Team missionary Charles Osgood led our church’s efforts to conduct a Vacation Bible School earlier this year. The theme for our VBS was salvation. Our primary goal was to get the Gospel to many of the kids in the areas around our church; we also wanted to help our church and the neighborhood kids understand salvation more clearly. Over 500 children attended each day. Each day the children divided into 20 classes and were taught a lesson on salvation. About 50 of our church members were present to help. Over 130 kids made a profession of faith in Christ!

Fundamental Baptist Academy: Fundamental Baptist Academy opened its doors in October 2010 with an enrollment of 33 students in K-12. In September 2012, we added a daycare and a preschool program. Our current enrollment is at 155 students. To date, we have had 2 high school graduates and 65 kindergarten graduates. Gyasi Boateng, one of our national pastors, shared this testimony with us: “My family and I went to visit my senior brother. At the dinner table, his seven-year-old son was trying to read some things from a book, but he could not say the words right. Then my four-year-old Joshua took the book and read it to him. My senior brother was shocked! He asked me which school my son attended, and I told him ‘Fundamental Baptist Academy.’ He replied, ‘Wow! They must be giving these kids a better education then.’ This made it easy for me to lead my senior brother to Christ.”

The Bus Ministry: While still located in Bantama, our church started a bus route in Abrepo. That route reached a little girl named Emmanuela, who started attending our church faithfully. When our church moved to Bohyen, that Abrepo route became a walk-in route. Due to the positive influence of the Gospel on Emmanuela’s life, her mother Grace and grandmother Ama began coming to our church faithfully as well.

Emmanuela (pictured on right) is now 14 years old and has been attending Fundamental Baptist Academy since it started. She goes soul winning weekly, and she works part-time at the daycare after her school day is finished.

Jesus loves the little children. As I preached from my pulpit recently, God is not just the God of adults; He is the God of little children. The best time to learn about God is in one’s youth. Please pray for our team, our bus workers, our soul winners, and our teachers as we seek to reach the adults and children of Kumasi. Pray for our church plants as they spread the Gospel in their areas as well.

Also, the team’s family prayer letter of the month is from the Mike Sarver family.

Yours for souls,
