Team Ghana Update: New School MinistryAn Exciting New Ministry

In recent days we have started an exciting ministry to the schools near our church. Under the leadership of team missionary Charles Osgood, one of our Bible college students, Kingsley Addai Gyasi, is organizing this ministry. (Kingsley Addai Gyasi is also a bus captain and Sunday school teacher at our church.) Each week men from our church go to area schools to preach to the students. Thus far, we are ministering in 6 schools each week to well over 600 students. More schools near our church have also opened their doors to us, and we are working to expand our ministry to them.

Soul Winning and Discipleship

At 5 of these schools, we have distributed salvation booklets to the students. This is a 16-page, very thorough Gospel tract published by our church. We are finding that some students do not understand the Gospel even after hearing the Gospel and reading the tract. Our plan is to deal with these students individually or in small groups, as the school allows. This ministry also provides New Testaments to students in these schools. Our plan is to take groups of students through our 12-booklet series of discipleship lessons.

An Opportunity to Help

The printing of discipleship booklets for these students is an expense not covered by our current budget. We could use some help with this need! My prayer is that we will be able to put one set of these booklets in the hands of every student at the schools in our area AND that our church members like Kingsley will be able to disciple these students. We can print 600 sets of discipleship booklets for $1800. Perhaps your church would like to have a part in meeting this need. Please contact me at tedspeer@www.fbmi.org if you or your church could partner with us in this area.

Prayer Requests

Pray for our School Ministry. Pray specifically that this ministry would bring many young people to salvation. Pray that many of these students and their parents would become active members of our church. Pray that the financial need for the printing of material for these students would be met.

Pray also for our 8th Annual Pastors’ and Workers’ Conference. This conference will be held August 12-15 on the theme “Marriage: Making It Work!” Dr. and Mrs. Bob Hooker will be our guest speakers. Pray that many marriages and families throughout West Africa will be strengthened as a result of this week.

From Our Families to Yours

Then, as I have mentioned in previous letters, our desire is to keep you up-to-date on our ministry as a team and as individual families—your financial support for our team is vital to both! My family’s prayer letter is included with this month’s team update.

Yours for souls,

Ted Speer
