I would like to introduce Flavio to everyone. Flavio’s kids have been coming to our church for a while now and are some of our most faithful kids. About six weeks ago, Flavio came to church during our Evangelism Conference and rededicated his life to the Lord. You never know how serious someone is when they make a decision like that, and the Devil will always fight to knock them back down. From that point on, however, Flavio came to church every Sunday. He began asking questions to figure out where Baptist doctrine was different from what he grew up hearing. After a month of attending, he asked if we could start discipleship. Two weeks ago, he asked what he needed to do to get baptized. Last week I was able to baptize Flavio, and the whole family, including his unsaved wife, was in church to see it. This week he joined the choir. He is not a “polished gem” yet, but I am a witness of the fact that God is working in this man’s life. We are grateful to those who pray and give so that we can reach men like Flavio here in Guarulhos.
This month I was also able to speak at a Missions Conference and an Evangelism Symposium for a Brazilian pastor who has become a dear friend. It is a blessing to see him catching a vision for reaching his Jerusalem and beyond. On the Saturday of the meeting, there were over 20 ministries represented there—some to learn more about evangelism and others to share ideas on how to be more effective—all because we want to fan the flames of soul winning in Brazil.
Thank you so much for praying for us. Please pray for Cynthia during her pregnancy; pray that her health and the baby’s health will stay strong. Please pray for continued growth and for more souls to be saved at our church here in Guarulhos. And please help us by praying for God’s direction concerning future ministry plans for starting more churches in Brazil.
For those who are interested, we will be taking a furlough that will begin this September and go through the first part of 2020. We would love to come and give a report at your church.
