Tim and Christa Simmons Prayer Letter: Into the Highways and HedgesInto the Highways and Hedges

A highlight of the year in the ministry we are helping in is their Christmas program. Much prayer and preparation have gone into making it a success. Matías, a young man in the church, wrote out a script and then asked several others, including me, to participate in the play. We also practiced five songs to sing during the program as well. Since most of the people are busy throughout the week, we mainly had Wednesday and Sunday nights to practice. Several times we have been at the church past 11:00 p.m. because of play practice. We decided to name the program, “The Gift of Christmas.” I was then able to design an invitation based on that theme. Pastor Silva organized times on Wednesdays and Saturdays to invite people to come to the program. I first printed 7,500 invitations and, when we were close to running out, another 5,000. Our family has spent many hours with some faithful servants of God inviting others to come. Even our daughter Emmalynn has gotten involved. It’s hard to say no to a two-year-old girl with blue eyes and curly hair! Please pray for visitors to come to church as a result of these invitations and, most importantly, that souls would be saved. The four presentations of the program are November 26 and December 3, 4, and 10.

It’s a . . .

We are excited to announce to that we are expecting our fourth child! We will be having another girl! Her due date is April 26, 2023. We praise the Lord that, up to this point, Christa’s pregnancy has been without any complications. Please pray for Christa’s pregnancy, the development of our baby, and wisdom as we navigate the medical system in Uruguay. Our plan is to have the baby here. The baby is coming at a good time, since this month we were able to move into a home! We had been living on the sixth floor of an apartment building for most of our time here. We had nice views, but we couldn’t exactly just send the kids out to play! We found a place with plenty of space for our family, including a large area outside where our kids can play. One of the reasons we liked this specific house was because it had a covered area with a place to prepare an asado (Uruguayan barbecue). We plan to invite lost people over for dinner, which will, Lord willing, open the door for us to present the Gospel. We were able to invite a family from Cuba into our little apartment in November. We’ve learned that personal relationships are vital in Uruguay in order to see souls saved. Please pray for us as we settle into our new home.
