Shari House Prayer Letter: Just a Face in the CrowdBible English Camp

In October, we had our first ever Bible English Camp. We welcomed children ages 5-12, and the camp ran from 9:00 a.m. to noon, Tuesday through Friday. The students were divided into 4 groups according to age and rotated through 4 different stations: English lesson, Bible-story time, crafts, and sports. We had an absolute blast, and it was great to see so many of our Thai adults get involved! The 65 campers partook in a vocabulary challenge throughout the week, and certificates and awards were given out at a closing assembly for the parents. One 12-year-old camper memorized 140 vocabulary words, but most importantly, 16 campers trusted Christ. The parents, many of whom had never attended our church, were so thankful to us, and several have allowed their children to start coming to our Sunday services.

Christmas Programs in the Schools

During the first two weeks of December, we held Christmas programs in 5 local schools, reaching over 2,000 students and teachers. In each school we played a game, taught an English lesson, presented a Christmas drama, gave a clear presentation of the Gospel, and handed out a gift to each student. We saw hundreds trust Christ as their Saviour.

On the Sunday after our first week of Christmas programs, a 12-year-old girl named Ohm asked her mother to take her to our church. I often speak to our visitors after the Junior Church hour to give them the Gospel. As I began to witness to her, Ohm said she was already saved. I was quite surprised, as that is not normal. After asking her a few questions and realizing she had in fact already trusted Christ as her Saviour, I asked Ohm who had told her about Christ. She said, “You guys did when you came to my school last week.” That day at her school, Ohm was just one little girl in a sea of faces to me; but to Christ she was a face that stood out to Him when she called on His name, and all the angels in Heaven rejoiced. Praise the Lord for such a great opportunity!

We were running a Bible-reading challenge in Junior Church at the time. The kids were to read a chapter in Proverbs every day and write out one truth they learned from each chapter. Ohm returned the very next Sunday having read the entire book of Proverbs and having listed the 31 truths she had learned from it. Praise the Lord!

Serving the Master joyfully,
