Luis Martinez Prayer Letter: Serving the People of Puerto RicoIsaiah 9:6 says, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” My family and I would like to wish each and every one of you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2020. My prayer is that together we can accomplish greater works for Christ during 2020.

As 2019 is coming to an end, I want to thank the Lord for allowing us the great honor and privilege of serving the people of Puerto Rico. I’m thankful that the lower lights continue to shine and that our church continues to spread to good news of Jesus Christ.

Recently, a lady in our church asked me to visit a family she’s been trying to reach. The family was Catholic but requested I go and pray for a 69-year-old man by the name of Hector, who had been given only a few months to live. When I arrived at their home, we began chatting, and I found out that for many years, he had worked in my hometown of Guayanilla, Puerto Rico. I asked Hector if he would let me show him how he could know for sure he would go to Heaven when he died. Within a few minutes, Hector prayed the sinner’s prayer and trusted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour. His wife immediately thanked me and said that she had asked the Catholic priest to come by, but he never did.

During the month of November, I was blessed to attend the Bus Reunion in my home church, the First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana. I had the opportunity to visit my two boys, Luis and Jose, who are both students at Hyles-Anderson College. On that Saturday, I was able to go soul winning with my son Luis on his bus route. During that time, we saw a man by the name of Porfirio, who was cleaning his street. We approached him, and my son gave him a tract. I asked him where he was originally from, and he said, “From San Luis Potosi, Mexico.” Porfirio let me witness to him and was sweetly saved.
