We thank God for the opportunity to serve Him here in Peru. Oftentimes, we stop in amazement to think that the Lord would allow us the opportunity to give our lives in this way. We truly enjoy the ministry here and are constantly amazed at what the Lord is doing! We encourage young people who may be reading this letter to consider giving your life to serve the Lord—you won’t regret it!
Our two churches here in Lima are going strong, to the glory of God! While the tragedy of losing their pastor may be difficult for the Surco church to understand, they have not fallen into despair; rather, they are moving forward in the areas of soul winning and discipleship. Recently, we celebrated the 10th anniversary of Iglesia Bautista Internacional of Surco, with Bro. Luis Martinez preaching. The church was packed full, and we enjoyed great preaching, good food, and fellowship with other churches.
The church in San Gabriel continues to grow! We are getting ready to start our annual Attendance Campaign, beginning June 18. Please be in prayer for both churches and for us as we endeavor to balance both ministries. We have wonderful leadership in both churches, and we are thankful for the men of God who step up to care for things in our absence.
We were able to conduct a Pastors’ School in Trujillo last month. We were excited to see the church packed out and people seated in the street just to be a part of the service. We are praying that the Lord will continue to work in that area of Peru.
We just got back from a trip to the jungle city of Pevas, where we conducted a Family Conference with the Philadelphia Baptist Church. We enjoyed teaching the families of the church, and we were able to minister to the local high schools. We were able to give the Gospel to several hundred students throughout the week, and many were saved. Please pray for this church as they work to reach the youth there in the jungle.
We will be heading to the jungle again next week, this time to the cities of Iquitos and Indiana, where we will be hosting a Medical Missions/Family Conference. We will be visiting several villages to give them a water-purification system and the Gospel. Please pray for this event and for the group from Grace Baptist Church in Marion, North Carolina, that will be coming to host the conference with us. Dr. Siemer from our mission board will also be accompanying the group. We are praying for a great turnout among the medical personnel in the area, along with the pastors and churches.
Both of our churches are excited about the Christian school we will be starting in March. The school year here in Peru runs March through December. Our school will be starting out as a homeschool group, meeting three days a week for classes and the other two days learning at home. We ask for prayers as we begin this much-needed ministry. God is working and providing many open doors, but we have many needs as well. We are going forward by faith, as we know that this is the Lord’s will.
We are still in need of land for both churches and for the team. Please pray about this!
