In I Chronicles 4:10, we are given the prayer of Jabez. “And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast, and that thine hand might be with me, and that thou wouldest keep me from evil, that it may not grieve me! And God granted him that which he requested.”
As Christians, we are instructed to ask God to give us favor and influence. Since starting the GANHAR Ministry in January 2022, God has continued to increase our influence among the independent Baptist churches of Brazil and other Portuguese- speaking countries. To date, we have had the honor of going soul winning, preaching, counseling, and making friends with local pastors and their people in 8 of the 26 states of Brazil.
Since December 29, 2022, I have spent 99 days away from our home doing the work of an evangelist. At times, my wife Dawn, our youngest son Zachary, or another member of the church in Taubaté are able to go with me. Earlier this month, both Jonata (he is preparing to marry our daughter Karlene on November 25) and Henrique, who serve with me in this ministry, were able to spend 6 days in the state of Piauí, going soul winning and preaching with 2 Brazilian missionaries.
Presently, I am in the city of Cajuru, 4.5 hours from home, with Templo Batista de Cajuru. Nine years ago, our family served in this church with the former pastor. Recently, he moved to work in another city, and I became the pastor of this church. This church has many needs, but we serve the God of the IMPOSSIBLE!
During the past year, Dawn, Karlene, and her fiancé Jonata, who serves with me in the GANHAR Ministry, have been serving with a fellow missionary in the city of Pindamonhangaba, a neighboring city 20 minutes from New Life Baptist Church in Taubaté. For the one-year anniversary at Victory Baptist Church the first week of August, Bro. Allen Johnson, the Director of Wings Bearing Precious Seed, brought 24 people to help saturate the city with John and Romans and invitations to attend the Anniversary Conference. The church continues to be blessed by the efforts of these godly Christians, as they continue to see people saved, receive new visitors, and disciple the people in the church.
This past Monday morning, we received another container of John and Romans, tracts from Fellowship Tract League, soft-cover Portuguese Bibles, Spanish New Testaments, and a children’s booklet written by Lidia Riley. Twelve of our men, three teens, including Zachary, and one young boy from the church in Taubaté worked with me to put the material inside the parking garage of the church. Through the GANHAR Ministry, Henrique is responsible for receiving requests for these materials from the churches and preparing them for shipping.
