Daniel Wilder Prayer Letter: Blind Eyes Given Sight“And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?” (John 9:40) Just like the traditions and religious rites of the Pharisees blinded them from perceiving the truth, the average Guatemalan, whether Catholic or Evangelical, has been blinded by religion and cannot comprehend the truth of the Gospel. However, we rejoice every time the Holy Spirit takes away the spiritual blindness and does His saving work in the lives of the dear people we have the privilege of serving.

In our last prayer letter, I mentioned that Federico Chuy’s daughter Carmen had accepted Christ as her Saviour after attending the Catholic church faithfully for many years. After Carmen got saved, her sister Judith started coming to our church. She had professed faith in Christ many years before in an Evangelical church and gotten baptized. While she was receiving the first discipleship class about “Understanding Salvation,” she realized that she did not understand salvation, and she prayed right there and put her faith and trust in Christ alone. Angelica, another one of Carmen and Judith’s sisters, is filling in for my wife´s Sunday school class these last few weeks of her pregnancy. When Judith found out, she wanted to know if she could help in the Sunday school class too. Even though she was now saved, she still needed to get baptized again so she could be a member of our church. I was putting off talking with her about baptism because many people here think that if one gets baptized twice, it is a sin because he is “playing with God.” She, however, came to me and told me that she had already studied the third discipleship lesson about “Baptism” and realized that she needed to get baptized again to have a biblical baptism and to be able to join the church. Praise the Lord!

I would like to thank each of you who have given financially to Bro. Marvin Yos and the Iglesia Bautista el Faro, which he started last February. The Lord has faithfully supplied their needs and blessed with many souls saved and baptized. Bro. Marvin told me that he didn´t have any money to buy food for his family last week, and he was tempted to borrow money from a friend. However, he instead went to the One Who owns the cattle on a thousand hills. While he was praying, he thought about his checking account. Even though he knew he had drawn out his last quetzal the week before, he thought he would go and see if the Lord had a surprise for him. When he asked for his balance, he realized that someone had deposited $100.00 into his account. He had no idea who it was. When he called me to tell me the story, I could hear his wife in the background happily buying groceries at the local market. Would you please consider supporting this fine family for a year? They only need $200.00 a month to be full-time. If you would like more information, please email me at wilderdaniel@hotmail.com.

Misty´s pregnancy is going well. The new Wilder baby is due September 9. Please pray for the birth and for Misty´s quick recovery.
