Daniel Kokubun Prayer Letter: Summer in PeruDear Praying Friends and Family,

This summer God has done amazing things in our church. He’s brought many young people into our youth group, and it’s been a privilege to see them grow. One of these particular young people is Anthony. He had been coming every once in a while to teen activities for quite some time but never really got involved in our church. This summer he began participating much more faithfully. One Sunday night Fernando, one of my older teens, led Anthony to Christ. The following week Anthony got baptized. It has been amazing to see the change God has made in his heart. He continues faithfully attending our church services and teen services. We are excited about what God has for his future.

One afternoon after my wife had finished at the dentist, she was walking downtown to pick up some pictures. Seeing a number of people enjoying their day sitting on park benches and not doing much of anything, she began passing out tracts as she walked by. After picking up the pictures, she had to walk back by the same place to catch the bus back to the house. On her way she noticed two ladies. One lady was reading the tract aloud to her elderly mother. My wife stopped and began to converse with them. She asked if they wanted someone to explain the tract to them. They eagerly agreed. My wife was able to share the Gospel with both of them, and they received Christ as their Saviour. Afterwards they thanked my wife with much appreciation for being willing to share with them. They were incredibly grateful to know about Heaven and that one day they would go there.

Speaking of soul winning, our teenagers continue to soul win and reach others for Christ. One week this past month, our group saw 14 people saved. Another week, we saw 16 people saved! The harvest truly is plentiful!

This past weekend a group of men from our church laid a new cement floor for our church. They had two days off work and wanted to use the holiday to do something for the Lord. A group of about thirty people in all participated in getting the floor laid and the church cleaned up and ready to go for services in only three days.

One of our highlights this month was hearing a group of our teenagers sing together. What a joy it is to hear them use their voices for God. Please pray for our young people. School has started, and school here requires much more of their time than one would imagine from a typical school in the States. Pray that the Lord would protect their hearts as they enter into the public schools day after day. Pray that they would continue to grow in their walks with God and fellowship with Him.

Thank you for praying for us! We are getting ready to complete two full years here on the mission field. This July we are looking forward to coming back to the States for several weeks to visit our families and several of the churches there. We are planning on being in both North Carolina and Oklahoma, Lord willing. We hope to see you!
Please know that we are praying for you as you pray for us.

Serving together for Him,

Daniel and Heather Kokubun
