November and December were both very busy months for us in Ecuador. Everyone was working hard to get ready for the first Fires of Evangelism Conference in Riobamba. While the students and staff worked on finishing the construction projects, I started in on the sound system. We made a bunch of changes, which included moving the mixer from a back room to the rear of the auditorium with a 120-foot-long snake, making mic cables, adding 9 wired mics for the pulpit, special music, and orchestra, and giving advice on some soundproofing treatments on the rear walls to help cut down some of the echo produced by the concrete walls and tile floors. We were also able to set up video streaming for the second half of the conference.
The conference itself went very well. The pews were all filled, and extra chairs had to be brought into the auditorium to seat everyone. I was able to present our printing ministry to the pastors at the conference. By the time we left Ecuador, we had printed and delivered 50,000 tracts, 42,000 flyers, and 2,700 discipleship booklets! I’m sure that we will have many more requests from pastors for free materials once we return.
Irene led Don Pedro and his wife to Christ. They came to church on our route and got baptized. He and his granddaughter visited during the conference and continue to come faithfully. His wife needed to stay home to guard their animals because if nobody stays home, they will be stolen. During the week, the route workers visit them at home and teach them using the discipleship booklets.
After the conference, the focus shifted to looking for property in the jungle for a new church and our own runway. We spent two days with Pastor Gallo looking at various lots in different areas. We found a few possibilities but nothing that seemed to be right. He is continuing the search without us since we are heading back to the U.S.
We finally got Irene in for a medical test she needed on the day we were leaving. The only place that could do this specific test was in Quito, which is where our flight to the U.S. originated. Thankfully, her test results were good, and they found no evidence of the suspected problem. Thank you very much for praying for her.
We arrived back in Texas a few days before Christmas. My next task is to replace the engine in our car. We appreciate your prayers and support very much. It is very evident that God is blessing our endeavors!

Noviembre y diciembre fueron meses muy ocupados para nosotros en Ecuador. Todos estuvimos trabajando duro para prepararnos para la primera conferencia de Fuegos de Evangelismo en Riobamba. Mientras los estudiantes y el personal trabajaban en terminar los proyectos de construcción, yo comencé con el sistema de sonido. Hicimos muchos cambios que incluyeron, mover el mezclador de una habitación hacia la parte trasera del auditorio con una serpiente de 40 metros de largo, hacer cables de micrófono y agregar 9 micrófonos con cable para el púlpito, música especial y orquesta. También pude ayuda con algunos consejos sobre tratamientos de insonorización en las paredes traseras para ayudar a reducir parte del eco producido por las paredes de cemento y los suelos de losa. También pudimos configurar la transmisión de video para la segunda mitad de la conferencia.
La conferencia fue todo un éxito, gracias a Dios. Las bancas se llenaron y hubo que traer sillas adicionales al auditorio para acomodar a todos. Pude presentar nuestro ministerio de imprenta a los pastores en la conferencia. Cuando salimos de Ecuador, ¡habíamos imprimido y entregado 50.000 tratados, 42.000 volantes y 2.700 folletos de discipulado! Estoy seguro de que tendremos muchas más solicitudes de pastores para materiales gratuitos una vez que regresemos.
Visitando en el pueblito de Gatazo, Irene gano a Don Pedro y su esposa a Cristo. Vinieron a la iglesia en nuestra ruta y se bautizaron. Él y su nieta visitaron durante la conferencia y continúan viniendo fielmente. Su esposa necesita quedarse en casa para cuidar a sus animales porque si nadie se queda en casa, se los robarán. Durante la semana, los trabajadores de la ruta los visitan en su casa y les ensenan. Usando los libros de discipulado que hemos imprimido.
Después de la conferencia, el enfoque se cambió a buscar una propiedad en la selva para una nueva iglesia y nuestra propia pista. Pasamos dos días con el Pastor Gallo mirando varios lotes en diferentes áreas. Encontramos algunas posibilidades, pero ninguna parecía la apropiada. Él Continúa la búsqueda sin nosotros ya que tuvimos que estar de regreso en los Estados Unidos.
Finalmente conseguimos que Irene se hiciera una prueba médica que necesitaba el día que nos íbamos. El único lugar en donde podía hacerse esta prueba de angiotomía era Quito, que es donde tomamos nuestro vuelo a los EE. UU. Afortunadamente, los resultados de su prueba fueron buenos y no encontraron evidencia del supuesto problema. Muchas gracias por orar por ella.
Llegamos a Texas unos días antes de Navidad. Mi próxima tarea es reemplazar el motor de nuestro automóvil. Agradecemos mucho sus oraciones y apoyo. ¡Es muy evidente que Dios está bendiciendo nuestros esfuerzos!
