As the hot summer has come to an end, we have settled in and adjusted to our new home and surroundings here in Oklahoma. It has been wonderful to have Kay reunited with so many family members after being away for over 20 years. We are attending the Bible Baptist Church in El Reno and have gotten plugged in and busy in many areas. I am working with their missions program and have had opportunities to both teach and preach. We are starting our annual Missions Conference this next week, and I am excited to see what impact A.W.B.M. can have here and on other local area churches.
In August, Gospel Baptist Church, Bacolod City celebrated its 21st anniversary and had a total of 123 souls saved throughout the day. We praise God for the faithfulness of Pastor Felix Penaflorida, as he has led this ministry for over 11 years now. They have a growing Bible college and Christian school, and God is using him to have a strong influence throughout the entire island of Negros there in the Philippines.
A.W.B.M. was able to help a Burmese pastor, who was about to lose his home and meeting place, by raising money to care for his rent for an entire year. The landlord had doubled his rent in an effort stop the growth of his ministry. He is just one of many faithful men of God facing persecution and financial hardships in his Communist-controlled country. Almost weekly, we receive pleas from pastors and workers in Asia who need help. Please pray that God will continue to allow us to help where and when we can.
While helping in our local church’s missions program, we have been afforded the opportunity to get involved in a way to help other local churches pray for their missionaries through the use of digital displays. We are in the early stages of researching and developing a plan to expand this effort in 2024. Please pray for wisdom and the needed funds to advance this project.
On a recent Saturday, I led an 18-year-old young man named Nikiai Bacarro to Christ. Please pray as I follow up with him and try to get him to church and discipled. The Gospel works all over the world, but we need more laborers. “Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”
