We thank God for the opportunity to serve as missionaries here in Canada. Thank you for helping us get here and stay here. It is our hearts’ desire to stay here till Jesus comes back or the Lord takes us Home. We love the people we get to serve and serve with in the Lord. I love serving and encouraging our youth here in our church. I love teaching them in Sunday school, teaching them in our teen IMPACT program, and teaching and encouraging them in life. As much as I have opportunity, I try to train and encourage those junior kids who, in a shorter time than I’d like to admit, will be teens themselves. In our soul-winning times, I usually take either a teenage young man or one of the junior-age boys with me as my soul-winning partner. Besides the fact that it usually makes for a friendlier encounter (because who wants to be mean to a kid?), it’s great to be able to encourage the next generation to be a witness for Christ.
Teen IMPACT has once again begun for us, and I greatly desire your prayers for this season. Through one of the Bible studies that I was doing, the Lord convicted/led me to teach a series of lessons to our teens that cover the “controversial” topics of our day called Biblical Answers for Current Events or BACE, in which we’ll discuss what the Bible says about atheism, homosexuality, abortion, humanism, racism, etc. These topics aren’t ones I want to approach lightly or in my own wisdom. Acts 20:27 says, “For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.” Through these words, I believe God showed me that I should teach these lessons and give our teens a biblical basis for the issues of our day. This year, the program has the teens memorizing verses about the topics we’ll cover, reading articles that reinforce the lessons, as well as giving out the same Gospels of John to teens that I’ve been handing out myself. I’m very pleased with the progress so far, as some of our teens have not only memorized a bunch of verses but have also stretched their faith and given out some Gospels of John to other teenagers. Please pray that these points of emphasis will help the youth to see that they can do something right now for the cause of Christ.
Thankfully, in October we were able to have the first youth activity that we’ve been able to have for a long time. We took the teens to a local orchard, and it was a great time of bonding for our teens and a great opportunity to invest in them a little. It was a rainy week, so we saw God answer our prayers and the teens’ prayers that we would be able to enjoy the orchard without getting rained out. It rained that day before the activity and after the activity, but not during the activity. God is good. We had lunch together and a time for me to encourage them from the Bible.
Also, I’d like to ask you to continue to pray for me as I also try to reach teenagers in our area with the Gospel. Awhile ago, the Lord laid on my heart to give a portion of Scripture, the Gospel of John, to teenagers in our local area. I believe they are searching, and it’s my belief, hope, and prayer that having the hope of the Gospel in Jesus’ own words will draw many young people to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We’re sowing the Gospel seed among teens in the GTA in hopes for a harvest soon. Please pray for us in this endeavor.
Lastly, I’d like to ask you to pray for our upcoming Christmas program. This year it will not only include the teens but also the juniors. Pastor Johnston has asked me to take care of running it, and I’d love for this year’s program to be top notch in sharing the Gospel, building confidence in our youth, and in glorifying the Lord.
