Brian and Liesl George Prayer Letter: Emergency FurloughMy dad, Russell George, had been having some health issues and was diagnosed with bladder cancer. On the 25th of June, my dad had a fall and was admitted to the hospital. After a series of tests, they found out that Dad did not have any broken bones, but it was discovered that he also has cancer in his ribs and lungs. His cancer is in Stage 4 and spreading rapidly. My dad had been complaining of feeling weak; now my dad can only walk with assistance and has to depend on someone to help him get around the house.

He was a pioneer missionary in Argentina, starting independent Baptist churches, for 36 years. My dad has led many to Christ and has a lot of friends in Argentina! He currently lives in Silva, Missouri, at Missionary Acres, a retirement community for missionaries!

After receiving these reports, I prayed and asked God what I should do, and God gave me peace to leave on an urgent trip to the U.S. to be with my dad for a month. The borders of Argentina were closed when I was scheduled to leave, and my flight was canceled. The Argentine government closed the borders because Coronavirus cases were spiking in the country. I was given an option to leave Argentina sometime during the middle of August. I was able to find a flight to Spain on Iberia; it was full, but by God’s grace, they had a seat available! This flight was super expensive, but I went ahead and purchased the ticket. I flew to Spain on the 30th of June, and the next day, I flew to Chicago. Praise the Lord!

I will be in the U.S. until the 30th of July. I’m spending a lot of time with my dad. My dad is my hero and an example to follow! Most of the flights going into and out of Argentina have been canceled by the Argentine government to prevent the virus from getting into Argentina! Please pray that my return flight will not be canceled

Our church was closed down by the police for two weeks because of a mandate from the government! We have opened back up now but only at 30% capacity! We continue to go forward, with many first-time visitors and new families coming to church!

Praise the Lord! We have been able to print 650,000 Gospel tracts so far of the “One Million Per Year” goal, and we are working on passing them out. Many pastors here have requested a box of tracts. I’m a little behind on getting the boxes distributed. The people here readily take the tracts and read them. Each full-color Gospel tract costs US$.013. Thank you for giving towards this need!

May God bless you richly!

Here to serve,

Brian R. George
