Angel Lopez Prayer Letter: Pastoring From Prison“For everyone that asketh receiveth . . . .” (Matthew 7:8)

I want to begin by saying THANK YOU for your prayers, your notes of encouragement that we often receive, and your faithful monthly support of our work. Just look at how your prayers are being answered.

BRO. LUIS: In the last six months that our Bro. Luis has been serving the Lord in prison, he has seen an additional 45 souls saved and 20 baptized. Of these, 10 are receiving a one-hour Bible study that Bro. Luis teaches every Friday, 10 others have completed a discipleship course, and 15 others have been trained by Bro. Luis to teach. These 15 are teaching individual Bible studies. Also, Bro. Luis is pastoring and preaching to the church that meets in his sector on a weekly basis. This church has a regular attendance of 100 saved and 300 others who come just to hear. The prisoners are allowed to receive weekly visits of family and friends from outside. Many of them have girlfriends or common-law wives who visit them weekly, and Bro. Luis has married 12 of his sector’s church members to their girlfriends during such visits over the past year. Please pray for Bro. Luis’ trial, which is scheduled to begin on May 11, 2015. Pray for discernment to be given to the judge in charge of this case.

SANTA CATARINA PINULA: The work in Santa Catarina Pinula has entered a new phase with the William Madrid family having joined our team. Bro. Madrid has just graduated from an independent Baptist Bible institute, a ministry of Maranatha Baptist Church of San Lucas, Guatemala. In the past month, God has opened a door for him to work with us at our new mission in the heavily populated town of Santa Catarina Pinula. Thank God for this answer to prayer!

LAST SUNDAY EVENING, March 1, 2015, we had our very first Skype session, where our church was brought face to face with the Calvary Baptist Church of Coldwater, Mississippi. I thank Pastor Beadles for giving us that opportunity to communicate with him and his people.

FURLOUGH CHANGE: In my November prayer letter, I mentioned that I will be going to the United States on a mini-furlough from April 15 until May 7 of this year. Those dates have been changed due to Bro. Luis’ trial in early May. The new furlough dates are May 19 to June 16. Please take note of this, and let me know if you would like us to visit your church during this time.

Thank you and God bless you.

Sincerely,

Angel Lopez
