What an honor it is to be ambassadors for our Saviour among the PEOPLE of Brazil! On May 30, Dawn + I celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary in Campos do Jordão, an hour’s drive up the mountain from Taubaté. How I praise the Lord for my wife and the opportunity to continue serving Him together.
The first two weeks of June, Pastor Corey Seulean from Hopewell Baptist Church in Longmont, Colorado, was here in Brazil for his first visit. June 5-7, the GANHAR Ministry had its first conference, with Bro. Corey preaching and teaching on the importance of being a soul winner. The conference ended on Saturday afternoon after we went soul winning and put into practice some of what had been learned. The church that allowed us to use their building for the conference expressed that they were helped and challenged through the practical teaching and preaching. Several people heard the Gospel and by faith, put their complete trust in Jesus both during the conference and during the Saturday soul-winning time. I would love to write about all of the divine appointments, but it would take more time than you have to read our letter.
Wednesday evening, June 11, Bro. Seulean was with us at the church in Cajuru. At the start of the service, he went, person by person, to greet everyone—remember that he does not speak Portuguese, and they do not speak English. One of the families with whom he spoke was Marcos and Marcela and their 10-year-old son Pedro, who was not saved. During his message, Bro. Seulean mentioned that at the age of 10, he understood his need to be saved. After the service, Marcos and Marcela allowed Bro. Corey to share the Gospel with Pedro, with the help of our son Zachary for translation. Praise the Lord for preparing Pedro’s heart to receive the Gospel.
The last two weeks of June, Pastor PJ Pallini, his wife Melissa, and their five children—Jessica, Hannah, Eliza, Billy, and Joey—came to Brazil for their very first missions trip. Their church, Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan, supports two families here in Brazil. What an honor was ours to help them meet some of the people we serve here in Cajuru and in Taubaté, 4½ hours away.
Our niece Veronica also spent three weeks here in Brazil during her third visit. She was a tremendous blessing everywhere she went. In two churches, she was able to play the piano. She also went out of her way to communicate and make new friends with people even though there was a language barrier.
In our last letter, we requested prayer for the 41st Anniversary Conference at Temple Baptist Church here in Cajuru at the end of July. Please continue praying for the Holy Spirit to have liberty to work through our pastor, John Wilkerson, as he preaches. Our son, Jonathan Whitmore, and his family will also be here for the conference, and he will be translating the messages. Two Answers to Prayer
1. Our daughter Karlene and son-in-law Jonata are in the U.S. and have started deputation. They have started contacting churches to schedule meetings. Please prayerfully consider allowing them to be a blessing to you and your church.
2. Praise the Lord that the container of John & Romans and Gospel tracts arrived the first week of July. We will say more about the material in the next letter. For the PEOPLE of Brazil,
Dave + Dawn and Zachary
