Bible Institute
Last year, it became a goal of our ministry to start a Bible institute. The purpose of this institute was to provide an opportunity for many of our lay people to take Bible college courses. In addition, we wanted to give people in the local area, who cannot attend Bible college, an opportunity to take classes. I am happy to report that we launched Hyles-Anderson Bible Institute with 50 students in May of this year. Only 3 of these students are a part of our day college classes. Classes meet on Thursday nights; classes are available in both English and Twi. A student can earn a diploma in three years’ time. This program will further the
knowledge of our church lay people, making our church leadership stronger, and it will help us to train pastors for the ministry.Family News
My family is excited to announce the arrival of our first grandchild, Emma Grace Nesbitt, born to Mark and Kimberly Nesbitt. As you may know, Kimberly is our oldest child. They serve at Bethel Baptist Church in Spanaway, Washington, which happens to be one of our team’s top supporting churches for nearly 20 years now.
Also, our son James graduated from Hyles-Anderson college in May. James is to be married to Kelly Kirchmann on July 19 at Gospel Light Baptist Church in Marion, Iowa. Our family will be traveling back to attend the wedding. For now, James and Kelly will continue to serve at the First Baptist Church of Hammond. We are thankful that all of our children are serving the Lord.
Prayer Requests
Let me ask you to continue to pray for our team’s radio and TV ministry, which has been so productive. We sent out a special update earlier this year about the opportunity we have to purchase a radio frequency and TV channel. As mentioned in that update, the need to purchase these venues for the Gospel and the equipment to start broadcasting would cost $130,000. (Email me at tspreacher@gmail.com for instructions on how to give toward this need.) As of the writing of this update, the Lord has provided nearly $8,000 towards this need. Keep praying! Thank you for your prayers for our family, including these precious new additions!
Yours for souls,
Ted Speer
