Brandon and Ali Heselschwerdt Prayer Letter: Adjusting Back and Moving Forward!

Brandon and Ali Heselschwerdt Prayer Letter: Adjusting Back and Moving Forward!Praise the Lord, our family is back in full swing on Kenyan time here in Kitengela, Kenya! It took a little longer than we expected, but now we are back on schedule after returning from our furlough!

We thank the Lord for our little group that makes up our Bible study each Sunday afternoon; we have a faithful group of around 10 adults who come each week, as well as around 35 children! At the beginning of the month, Ali and I were able to give a certificate to 4 children (Celestine, Cynthia, Ian, and Allen) for faithfully attending for 12 weeks in a row! They also were given their own personal Bible! It has been truly exciting to see the spiritual growth in both the children and the adults in our study!

At the end of the month in our weekly study, one of the young ladies named Rehema (“Mercy” in Kiswahili) came early to try and work on some of the studies she had missed. Within 15 minutes of our study, it became clear from some of the things she was saying that she was not saved. So, after asking some questions and then going through the Scriptures with her on true salvation in Christ alone, she came to put her trust in Jesus alone! It was exciting, but it was also a sad testimony of Christianity here in Kenya when I heard Rehema say, “Wow! No one has ever shown me this truth from the Word of God.” But, praise the Lord, that is exactly why our family is here—to share the truth of the Word of God with Kenyans so that they can know Christ personally! Amen!

Besides our weekly Bible study, God has been blessing us with being able to disciple several people throughout the week! I am still meeting both Lewis and Fredrick in the city of Nairobi every Tuesday evening. They are both at different stages in their walk with Christ, but they keep growing! I also have been blessed to meet with a young couple named Bazil and Quinter every Saturday morning, and Ali meets with a young mother and one of our teenage girls each week as well! God is working in the hearts and lives of those around us!

Lastly, the PPTA and the national pastors are really moving forward for the cause of Christ! Please continue to pray for the faithful group of men who make up our Bible study! Pray that souls will continue to be saved in our area and that new converts will grow in their walk with the Lord! Please pray, as we hope to make the shift to Sunday mornings here soon and look at what it means to be a New Testament church. Thank you so much for your faithfulness. God bless you.
