I grew up in a broken home and did not attend church as a child. Once I got into my teen years, a family friend asked me to come to a teen event at a church and told me there was going to be pizza. So, like any teen I was going for the pizza. When I got to the church, I saw that there were a lot of games. I went and played some of them. As the pizza got there to the church all the teens were called in to hear a message. As I was heading to my seat, I saw a friend standing in the front. I sat down in the seat and watched my friend as he began to speak. He started to talk about how he was a sinner and that he was going to go to hell. As he was speaking about sin, I realized I was a sinner, and that hell was going to be my home. I started to cry and believed the Lord could not love me. The man that invited me saw me crying and came to me. He asked me what was wrong, and I replied with “I am going to hell.” Then the man told me that I do not have to go to hell. He said that Jesus died for me and gave His life for me. He then showed me the Romans road and that I could ask Jesus to be my Savior. I did that night.

I was called to the mission field when I was 22 years old. The Lord was working in my heart to go to college and study missions. As I was at college the Lord was working in my heart about helping churches with the bus ministry. I worked in the bus ministry the whole time I was in college and many times our bus broke down. During those times sitting in a broken-down bus, I was wishing I could help. I finished my degree in missions and the Lord opened the door for me to get my trade degree in auto mechanics and diesel mechanics. I prayed that the Lord would use this degree in helping me on the mission field. I started working on buses right after I graduated and realized the Lord could use me in helping churches with their buses. I then called around and started asking churches if they could use a mechanic. Many churches replied and said they would love for me to come. I knew at that time the Lord was calling me to help churches with mechanics and to train the next generation in this trade. My wife and I and our four children are starting deputation to Keep the Buses Going all around the United States and serve in local churches helping with soul winning, bus mechanics, bus ministry, teens, children’s ministry, and music. We appreciate your support for us.

God allowed us to go to Green Valley Baptist Church in Middletown, Virginia, and present our ministry. We were so thrilled to see their growing church and the new building plans they have! We enjoyed fellowshipping with Pastor Kirchoff and the church family. It was fun to stop and see Shenandoah National Park during our trip home too.

    Ministering Through Music and Mechanics

Lauretta had the opportunity to play the piano and sing for a wedding at our church, and I was able to work on three church buses at home in Tennessee and get our new truck ready for travel in Indiana with great help from Bro. Warren Storm and Bro. Jerry Ossewaarde. Through God’s provision, all of the parts for the new truck were paid for. While in Indiana, we were able to lead someone to the Lord at a restaurant!

    12 States and 6,000 Miles

We had an amazing trip out West! We had a blast at “Kingdom Coronado” VBS at Coronado Baptist Church in Tucson, Arizona. I was able to preach Sunday evening, tell the Gospel with a story each day, and do balloons for the kids. Our kids had fun being a part of the VBS and learned some new verses! About 30 adults and 56 kids were in attendance, and 8 kids made a profession of faith! Then we traveled to Commerce, California, to First Baptist Church and helped canvas the neighborhood nearby for their Kids’ Day on Sunday. Lauretta was able to help with all of the music, and I preached. One was saved that day. After seeing the Pacific Coast, we headed back to Arizona to help diagnose a problem with a bus at Valley Baptist Church in Mesa. We loved being a part of their Tuesday evening soul winning. There were 3 saved and many contacts made. After that, we made the long trek up to Michigan to help Sheridan Road Baptist Church with a bus they needed for their VBS week! We spent a day working on getting all of the filters changed and trying to get the bus to start again. When we were about to take a break from it, God allowed it to start right up! We are so thankful that God uses us and answers prayers, even when it’s, “Dear God, please help this bus to start!”

    Breakdowns and Blessings

On our way to Arizona, a coolant-line piece broke, and we were on the side of the road in the desert fixing it temporarily until we could get to town. God had provided the exact amount of water at a previous stop to fill the coolant tank for us to make it safely to town for coolant. The truck struggled to start a few times after that, but with much prayer, God helped keep it running! Without having our bus RV built yet, we didn’t have places to stay planned out for the big trip, but God just kept opening doors and providing comfortable stays and good food to eat! God is so good!
