I grew up in a broken home and did not attend church as a child. Once I got into my teen years, a family friend asked me to come to a teen event at a church and told me there was going to be pizza. So, like any teen I was going for the pizza. When I got to the church, I saw that there were a lot of games. I went and played some of them. As the pizza got there to the church all the teens were called in to hear a message. As I was heading to my seat, I saw a friend standing in the front. I sat down in the seat and watched my friend as he began to speak. He started to talk about how he was a sinner and that he was going to go to hell. As he was speaking about sin, I realized I was a sinner, and that hell was going to be my home. I started to cry and believed the Lord could not love me. The man that invited me saw me crying and came to me. He asked me what was wrong, and I replied with “I am going to hell.” Then the man told me that I do not have to go to hell. He said that Jesus died for me and gave His life for me. He then showed me the Romans road and that I could ask Jesus to be my Savior. I did that night.

I was called to the mission field when I was 22 years old. The Lord was working in my heart to go to college and study missions. As I was at college the Lord was working in my heart about helping churches with the bus ministry. I worked in the bus ministry the whole time I was in college and many times our bus broke down. During those times sitting in a broken-down bus, I was wishing I could help. I finished my degree in missions and the Lord opened the door for me to get my trade degree in auto mechanics and diesel mechanics. I prayed that the Lord would use this degree in helping me on the mission field. I started working on buses right after I graduated and realized the Lord could use me in helping churches with their buses. I then called around and started asking churches if they could use a mechanic. Many churches replied and said they would love for me to come. I knew at that time the Lord was calling me to help churches with mechanics and to train the next generation in this trade. My wife and I and our four children are starting deputation to Keep the Buses Going all around the United States and serve in local churches helping with soul winning, bus mechanics, bus ministry, teens, children’s ministry, and music. We appreciate your support for us.

  • Marco and Lauretta Hannel Prayer Letter: God ProvidedGod Provided

We are so grateful for God’s provision in the month of September. First, we needed a dependable vehicle to get to California. God was gracious to help us rent one and not have any issues with it during travel. Then we were able to help a church transfer a bus from Missouri to California, and God provided us a safe and smooth trip all the way. We are thankful to each of you who pray specifically for our safety on the roads!

    First Stop—Texas

We enjoyed stopping at Galilean Baptist Church and looking at their bus. I was able to fix a battery issue and a few mechanical issues they had. I spoke about our ministry, and Lauretta sang during their midweek service. I was also able to be a part of their bus meeting, instructing them about mechanical needs on the bus. We were encouraged by the fellowship with Pastor Wilkerson at Braum’s Ice Cream afterward as well.

    Quick Stop in Tucson

Next, we headed toward Arizona and had a wonderful time with Pastor McRae, his wife Lacey, and their girls. It’s always a sweet time talking with friends in the ministry. We were excited to hear how God is opening doors and growing their bus ministry there at Coronado Baptist Church.

    Long Beach, California

God allowed us to make it safely to Bible Baptist Church and park one of their two new buses! It was such a blessing to hear how God gave them over 60 riders on the first day! We enjoyed being in their church and presenting our work. They blessed us tremendously and took us on for support! We loved getting to know the Leon family as well.

    Chula Vista, California

The atmosphere at the Missions Conference of Berean Bible Baptist Church was sweet. From the many amazing home-cooked meals to the spiritual nourishment of the Word, we were comforted by the friendship of the missionaries and the church family. I led a bus-worker training meeting, and we went out soul winning together on Saturday. We were so thrilled to see immediate fruit from the soul-winning efforts. Three were saved, and three more came to church the next day! Teaching the children’s church was also a blessing. In addition, we saw three baptisms Sunday evening. God is good!

    Oceanside, California

God redirected our steps toward home to help Pacific Coast Baptist Church with their buses for a day. We were privileged to help them get their buses ready for inspection, which they passed with flying colors! One of the buses hadn’t run for three years, and God allowed us to get it going! Our children greatly enjoyed the generosity of Pastor and Mrs. Clark. We are excited to come back to present our ministry and meet more of their church family.

    New Mexico

On our way back to Tennessee, we stopped at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Las Cruces for their Wednesday night service. We enjoyed meeting the church folks there, and I was able to speak about our ministry. We are thankful for the ways God led us and how He provided exactly what we needed this past month.
