Rey and Tess Garcia Prayer Letter: We Have Arrived in the Philippines!

Rey and Tess Garcia Prayer Letter: We Have Arrived in the Philippines!By God’s grace and traveling mercies, we arrived in Manila, Philippines, on February 14, 2024. After doing logistics for a couple of days, we finally drove to Legaspi City on February 19, 2024, arriving on February 21, 2024. On the following day, we met Missionary Pastor Dennis Lagos, his wife Holly, and some members of Fellowship Baptist Church Daraga. We had a short introduction with the members as we headed out to start searching for an apartment.

On February 23, 2024, the Lord led us to a restaurant, where we met a young man named Kim Masareta in the parking lot. God was gracious on him and saved him that afternoon. Please pray that we can bring him to church one Sunday. February 25, 2024, was our first Sunday service at FBC Daraga, where one visitor, Edward Caspe, came with us.

Every Thursday afternoon, the church has a Prayer Connection and soul-winning activities. We attended our first meeting on February 29, and God gave us 6 souls saved that afternoon. The following weekend, we had 4 souls saved by God’s mercy and grace. Please pray for the Caspe and Chan families to continue to grow spiritually.

Other FBC Daraga Important Events and Programs

Pastor Lagos started a program at the main campus of Bicol University Legazpi called the Suicide Prevention Ministry. The aim is to help the university administration prevent suicide among the students, where several cases have already been reported, through Bible studies on the campuses. The president of the university, upon the request of Pastor Lagos, granted a pass to FBC Daraga members to distribute Gospel tracts and conduct soul winning and Bible studies on all of the campuses throughout the provinces of Albay and Sorsogon. There are more than 20,000 students on each of the 5 campuses, and they are very receptive to the Gospel.

Prayer Needs

1. For a room on each Bicol University campus to be made available to us where we could meet the students regularly for Bible studies and other campus activities
2. For God’s wisdom and power as we saturate these campuses on a regular basis
3. For God to open more doors for our soul winning in the local areas around the city
4. For the Holy Spirit to work in the hearts of FBC’s ACE students’ parents, as we plan to do some follow-ups with them
5. For us to find a permanent rental house in which to live

Praise

1. We praise God for the 11 souls He gave us during our first 2 weeks in Daraga/Bicol City.
