As I believe all of you know by now, my beloved husband Jonathan went Home to be with the Lord on April 2, 2025. It was a deep and unexpected shock to all of us. Because of some circumstances with traffic in the city, he was not able to make it to the church on time that Wednesday night to preach, but he arrived 10 minutes before the services were over. Before we left, he gave 20 points on how to get into a conversation to lead someone to the Lord.
After that evening service, we went soul winning, as we do every Wednesday night as a church. We had been knocking on doors for about 40 minutes when he knocked on a door and said to Wyatt, who was his soul-winning partner that night, that he didn’t feel good, leaned against the wall, and collapsed. The people answered the door, saw that he was on the ground, and quickly called paramedics. One of the ladies from the church came and got me, as I was on another street. I quickly got to him and saw that he was unresponsive. I began to give him CPR and mouth-to-mouth. He had a small pulse at first, but slowly his heart stopped. In that moment, I knew that he was opening his eyes to see Jesus.
In the course of that evening, when the paramedics had arrived, the people whose house he had been knocking on were standing around with everybody else. A dear lady in our church heard the man say, “Who was this man, and why was he at our door?” She stepped forward and said, “I can tell you who he is and why he was there.” She proceeded to tell the man that he was the pastor of a church and had come to tell them how they could know Jesus. She was able to lead the husband, the wife, and the son to the Lord. God is so good that He allowed the three souls of that house to receive Christ that night. I know that was the heart of my husband—even in his final moments of life, his deep desire to see souls saved was fulfilled.
It has been a very difficult last couple of months, as he was such a big part of everybody’s lives. My comfort is knowing that he is safe with God and that one day I will see him again.
After Jonathan’s funeral in April, Wyatt and I went and stayed with family for a few months. On June 10, we returned to Mexico, to our home, to our kids, and to our church family. I feel like the Lord is going to allow me to continue to work here in Mexico with the children’s ministry and, of course, attend and serve however I can in our church, Iglesia Biblica Bautista El Redentor.
My desire is to continue to help financially support the churches we have started and El Faro (“The Lighthouse”) Children’s Home. I am thankful to each one of you who over the years have been praying for us and supporting us so that we could do what the Lord sent us to do here in Mexico. I ask that you continue to remember us in your prayers, as there is going to be a big adjustment here, and I ask that you would consider continuing to support Wyatt and me while we serve here in Zacatecas, Mexico.
Prayer Requests
• Please continue to pray for the children in the home, as he was a father to them, and they have been trying to understand all that is happening.
• Please pray for the church, as they are trying to find God’s direction for the next pastor God has for us.
• Please continue to keep Wyatt and me in your prayers, as this has been a difficult time for us.His servants by His grace,
Laura and Wyatt Bryan
