Israel Alvarez Prayer Letter: 10-Year Anniversary ServiceGreetings! We are nearing the end of the rainy/hurricane season. The weather is just a bit cooler. The fresh breeze after a short downpour is very refreshing. We hope this pattern will continue.

Our summer was busy as usual. In August, we hosted our annual Fundamentalists’ Conference. We had 13 pastors attend this conference, as well as many laymen from their congregations. It was an honor to have our special guest speakers be with us for three days: Dr. Tommy Ashcraft from Monterrey, Mexico; Dr. Luis Parada from Long Beach, California; and Pastor Bob Walker from Tijuana, Mexico. The services were encouraging to teens, adults, and families alike. During the conference, several people came forward to surrender their lives to God’s will. One lady named Laura was a newer member from our church plant in Corozal. Shortly after the conference, her husband trusted Christ and was baptized in the Caribbean Sea. This family has remained faithful, getting involved with cleaning the church, soul winning, and helping in various other ways. Please be in prayer for this family as they continue growing spiritually.

In September, we had the privilege of celebrating our 10-year anniversary as a church. My how the years have gone by! Upon arriving on the field in 2009, we often wondered and dreamed of where we would be in 10 years. It was a blessing to have the missions team from our sending church, Faith Baptist Church in Wildomar, California, with us to celebrate our anniversary. In the days before our big Sunday, we spent the mornings out soul winning and inviting people to attend our anniversary conference. On the final evening of our conference, we had 240 people in attendance, with 35 first-time visitors. During the 3 days of the conference, 18 people trusted Christ as their Saviour. During this month, we also had 6 baptisms. Praise God!!! We are overjoyed and looking forward to another 10 years of serving our Lord.

Praise and Answered Prayer

  • We are overjoyed to announce that we have finally renewed our visas for one more year.  If you have been following our prayer letters, you will remember that this has been an issue we’ve dealt with for many months.  Praise God that the paperwork has been resolved!  Thank you for all the prayers about this matter.

In Christ,

Israel and Tonya Alvarez
