Between what God is doing through Lighthouse Baptist Church of Acacia and all of the preparations that went into making our first month of PPTA (Pastors’ Practical Training Academy) happen, it seemed like the month of March was over before I realized it even began! Even though it went very fast, we do want to praise the Lord for what He has done through our ministries this month!
When it comes to LBC of Acacia, we have seen several new visitors. This is due to many of our teenagers getting excited about trying to win a monthly prize for having the most visitors for each month. One of our teen ladies has brought several guests, and we have been able to meet with these first-time visitors after the services and take them through the Gospel. It has been a blessing to see some of these first-time visitors come to put their trust in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. This same teenage girl has also been able to take some of these first-time visitors through the Gospel and lead them to Christ herself! We are very thankful for what God keeps doing through His church here in Acacia, Kenya, and through the youth that He has entrusted us with!
We also have had a few adults get on board with our discipleship classes, and they have been studying hard to learn more about the truth in God’s Word. Through our discipleship classes, we have been able to witness spiritual growth week by week. Lastly, in regards to the church, we had a great time with our youth on their youth day, which we do one Saturday a month. We were able to play some volleyball, and then after having some fun, we were able to study God’s Word together!
This month, we started our next PPTA program. We had a possibility of 50 men coming, as that is how many verbally committed. When it came time to start classes on Tuesday, we ended up with 24 men in attendance. We had a great first week in our PPTA program with this group of men from across Western Kenya. They have teachable spirits and have already testified about how much they have learned over this first month of training. Please continue to pray for this group of men as they strive to know the Word of God and how to better teach their own people back upcountry. Both Bro. Peter Morris and I are excited about and looking forward to what God is going to do through each one of these men.
Thank you as always for your faithfulness in support and prayers. Thank you for having a part in what God is doing here in Kenya, East Africa! Thank you and God bless.Your co-laborers for lost souls across East Africa,
The HESELSCHWERDT Family
Brandon, Ali, Jeffrey, Hannah, and Esther

Pastor Wycliffe spent the weekend with my family and me as the guest speaker for our Teen Conference and our church. During this time, I was blessed to see and hear updates of what God is doing through him and his family in the Ndhiwa (N-the-wa) area. Pastor Wycliffe has a wife and four young children. He started a church about two years ago in an area where there was no true Gospel-preaching church. Please pray for him and his family, as he travels about 50 minutes from where his home is to get to where the church is located.
Through their faithfulness, they have 40 total in attendance, with a good mixture of children, youth, and adults. He has witnessed much spiritual growth in the church and now has several people going with him each week for soul winning and evangelism. It was a blessing to hear about the personal accounts of lives changed for Jesus Christ!
He also has been able to build strong relationships with several of the schools in his area, and through that, he has had multiple doors open, where he has been invited to come and share the Bible with both teachers and students. On one occasion, Pastor Wycliffe was able to sit down with several teachers and answer any questions that they had and to show them his belief according to the Bible. There was one particular teacher who was very much into the Charismatic doctrines and with speaking in tongues. After taking the time to teach the Bible to this man, along with the other teachers, this man came to see the truth of the Word of God and put His trust in Jesus Christ alone. Through simply teaching the Word of God, Pastor Wycliffe has been invited to return to the school and to keep sharing the Bible with them.
Lastly, Pastor Wycliffe has also started a small Bible study near his home, with the prayer of possibly starting a new church plant there closer to his home and home area. Pray for this small group of believers that have been meeting together to grow in the grace of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Pray also that God will allow him to continue to reach more souls with the Gospel message in his home area.
God has been opening doors for Pastor Wycliffe and his family to share the Gospel with the lost, disciple new believers, and strengthen this young church plant.
I am excited to share with you what God is doing across Western Kenya and hope that you are as well. Thank you for your faithful support and prayers to make all this possible in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Before I came to understand baptism and other lessons from our discipleship series, I used to believe that works would take me to Heaven, only to realize that I was wrong. In baptism, we were taught that baptism is a symbol of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Baptism is not for infants. Jesus was our example of being baptized, and God was the one Who commanded us to be baptized.
Salvation: When we sin or trespass, we are spiritually dead, but the Scriptures overwhelmingly teach that when you recognize you have sinned, you first must believe that Christ can forgive you and then repent and He will save you. I myself came to realize when Pastor Brandon taught that our works, like baptism, cannot get us to Heaven but by believing in Jesus Christ ONLY as our way to Heaven.
