“I just knew there had to be a God!”
This is what Romina mentioned to us. The week prior to Easter, she had attempted to commit suicide. She had been atheist, but when she survived, she thought that there had to be a God somewhere. She came with her mother to church for our Saturday service of Easter weekend, where Christa was able to explain the Gospel to her, and she sweetly put her faith in Christ! Please pray for Romina’s spiritual growth, as she starts discipleship this week. A faithful lady across the street invited her neighbor Mayra. Mayra had been to a church before but stopped going when she started working once more. She had the Sunday morning off and decided to come. She raised her hand for salvation in the invitation. She accepted Christ as her Saviour after the service. We are thankful for these visitors the Lord has brought. Please pray for these visitors and others who’ve come to continue being faithful.
Baptismal Service
On April 12, we had a baptismal service. We don’t have a baptistery, so we decided to go to the beach since it’s close by. We had been pretty nervous, as the weather was pretty temperamental that entire week and the next week was promising to be cold. Glory to God, during the two-hour window we had reserved for our baptismal service, God opened the clouds, stopped the rain, and allowed beautiful sunshine to come through! We had seven people lined up for baptism, but three had to cancel. We praise the Lord that Andrew, Gaby, Federico, and our son Evan followed the Lord in believer’s baptism! We know of several others interested in baptism. We are working to schedule another baptismal service with another church since we are heading into winter here.
Spiritual Growth
We have many new discipleships started and many contacts we are keeping up with. We have 13 one-on-one discipleships scheduled, along with others we are working to schedule. The man who leads our music, Juan Pablo, will also be starting to disciple another man. One thing we have done is with lessons on prayer. Christa shows the ladies how to journal their prayers, make lists, and also write when a request has been answered. One of our ladies, Gaby, has started prayer journaling. She called after about a week and a half of journaling. In tears, she explained that one of the most important prayer requests had been answered, and she was so excited to be able to write her answered prayer down in her journal. Please pray for more growth and open hearts as we continue discipling these new converts.
