Garry was born in the Philippines in 1983.  When he was 4, his family migrated to Australia where he spent the rest of his childhood. He attended Queensland Baptist College for his first year in college and moved to the United States in 2003 to attend  Hyles-Anderson College. In 2007, Garry graduated from H.A.C. with a Bachelor’s in Pastoral Theology, and in 2008 he graduated with his Master’s in Education for School Administration. Garry has been on staff as a Pastor’s assistant and school teacher since 2009 at Lakecrest Baptist Church.

Mindy was born and raised in Michigan. She has been a part of Lakecrest Baptist Church all her life and has even served as a part-time teacher there. Mindy graduated from Hyles-Anderson College in 2013 with her Associate Degree in Elementary Education. Garry and Mindy were married on July 25th, 2009.  They have three children: Rhys, Elin, and Gwen.

Garry has always known the need in Australia.  It has only been recently that he knew God was calling him back to Australia to serve Him there.  He has dual citizenship in Australia and the United States.  This is a great advantage to entering Australia as missionaries.  Other American missionaries wanting to enter Australia must enter through other avenues besides religious visas, as they are no longer available.

Garry was commissioned at First Baptist Church of Hammond on March 15, 2017, by FBMI. He was ordained into the ministry on July 16, 2017, at Lakecrest Baptist Church, the Tingsons’ sending church.

Please pray for the Tingsons as they seek to win souls, plant churches, and train nationals in Australia.  Pray for them while they are on deputation to raise support from churches and individuals who share the same vision to reach the world for the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • Garry and Mindy Tingson Prayer Letter: Getting Fired Up for the Ministry! The temperature is starting to cool down here in Brisbane, but we’re all getting fired up for the ministry! In February, our church had a farewell service for the Anderson family, who will be starting a church in Geelong, Victoria. I will get to be a part of a team that our church will be sending in the third week of May to help with outreach and their Grand Opening. Please pray as we prepare for this trip; pray that the Lord will truly bless in this new church plant.

In March, I was able to be part of a missions team that was sent to Papua New Guinea to help the Caleb Wilson family, one of our missionaries there. Our team consisted of two electricians, two plumbers, one carpenter, and one handyman (me). Because their ministry is located on a remote island, they needed to build a house with some modern conveniences. Our team was able to supply and build a full, off-the-grid, solar-powered electrical system and a full, off-the-grid water and sewerage system equipped with a rainwater tank, pump, and sceptic tank. Our plumbers were able to do the plumbing in the whole house, our sparkies (“electricians”) were able to wire up the whole house, and our chippy (“carpenter”) and I were able to help build the interior of the house. While we were there, we got to work with the locals in the village, teach Sunday school, preach in the services, and attend classes during their Bible institutes. We also got to visit other villages on the island. The Lord blessed our efforts, and it was such a great experience for us all. Please continue to pray for the Wilson family as they continue to finish their house and minister to the people of Papua New Guinea.

Our family is settling in well here in Brisbane. Our children are doing well in school. Rhys is involved in basketball and singing, Elin is involved in the school choir, and Gwen is very invested in winning at handball. They are all involved in the youth ministries of the church also. My wife is using her talent in photography here at the church and will be getting involved in the music ministry. I’ve been able to teach, preach, and go soul winning since we arrived here. Pray for a man named Michael who just got saved. I’m working on him to commit to getting discipled. I will also be getting involved with some church plants started by Missionary Jim Heberle here in Queensland. During the week, I’ve had the honor and privilege to volunteer at Southland Baptist Press, a printing ministry of our church that focuses on printing Gospel literature to give to missionaries serving in Southeast Asia. Since COVID, this ministry has been struggling to keep up with daily costs and has relied on acquiring other printing services to pay for the cost of printing and sending out Gospel literature. We are the only independent Baptist church in Australia that has a printing ministry. I have a real burden for this ministry, and I would like to invite you to pray for Southland Baptist Press. Pray that God would provide the needs of this ministry so that we can continue to get the Gospel out to Southeast Asia.

We are so thankful for your faithful prayers and financial support!

    Your servant in Christ,

    Garry Tingson
