  • Paul and Ling Awi Lung Prayer Letter: On Furlough in the StatesGreetings to you all in the name of Jesus our Lord. I trust that this letter finds you all in good health. This is my great joy—God allowed me to get into the United States during the first week of May through the good deeds of FBMI Director, Dr. Mark Bosje, and Dr. John Wilkerson of the First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana.

On March 28, our country faced a terrible earthquake (7.8). It destroyed the lands, the people, the buildings, and the roads. A lot of things are damaged. More importantly, 4,860 people died, and more than 4,200 peoples were injured and hospitalized. The dead bodies were found every day; many were hospitalized but still with no hope. For some, there is still hope. People were in shock. By God’s grace, we are safe, but some of our buildings were damaged. It was so tragic. After the earthquake took place, people came to realize that there is a God Who controls everything—there must be a Creator, but some still couldn’t understand it or believe it.

After this tragedy, more people are searching for God. When we face difficulties and suffering, people hunger more for God. When everything is okay, people are living, just enjoying their lives. No matter what things are going on, we win many souls to Christ. People are still getting saved, and we are glad for God’s blessings.

During this furlough, I will be visiting churches to raise funds for:

    • 10 pastors and their families (10 x $200 = $2,000). If it is a big family, it will be $300 per month, including for allowances.
    • One church building $1,600 (for 80-foot x 36-foot hall-type building for 180 people); it’s a wonderful church.
    • The girls’ dormitory, which cracked line after line during the earthquake.
    • Renovations for the library building—its utilities project.
    • Two 60-foot x 40-foot storage buildings, estimated expenditure is $1,500.

These items projects need to be done in 2025 – 2026, so I need your prayers and help for God’s kingdom.

At the same time, I also would like to request your help for all of the national pastors. It is very difficult for them to reach out to churches and pastors to get support. I am in need of your help to introduce me to pastors and churches that I can present the ministries and the needs of the works in Burma to, where Adoniram Judson and his wife Ann planted the seeds of the Gospel in the country. Your help is always appreciated.

    Prayer Requests

    1. To get healthy during my furlough program
    2. To have more meetings with pastors and churches
    3. To get support for the target plans
    4. My return home

    Praises for God’s Goodness

    1. Dr. John Wilkerson and the deacon board of the First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana, gave us $5,000 for earthquake relief.
    2. Pastor Mike Gordon of Open Bible Baptist Church of Columbus, Indiana, gave $300 for the girls’ dormitory of the orphanage.
    3. Pastor Paul Worley of Freedom Baptist Church of Eastover, North Carolina, gave $800 for earthquake relief.

I praise God for the pastors and churches who are helping the works that we are doing. We are moving forward. May God bless you all richly, as you stand with me for His kingdom. Amen.

    In His blessed ministries,

    Pastor Paul Lung
