Earlier this year, we launched a weekly television broadcast that is potentially reaching millions every month. As we reported in our April 2018 update, the name of our program is “Fundamental Hour,” and it is broadcast every Sunday morning at 6:00 on the TV3 television network. TV3 is one of the top two networks in Ghana. The response has been wonderful. We have received many comments and questions through our social media connections. I would like to share with you several testimonies from our first seven months on the air:
• First of all, people all over Kumasi are tuning in. As our church members visit the local area, many people tell them they have been watching the program on a weekly basis. Several have started attending our church as a result of hearing our broadcast. Here are four testimonies from the Kumasi area:
o Paul was the first visitor from our TV program. Paul had been watching our broadcast for one month when he decided to visit our church. He was saved and baptized. I visited him and was able to witness to his son Thomas. Paul joined our church and has been attending every week.
o Charles works locally as a security guard. He had been watching the program but did not realize our church was located nearby until he rode by our church and recognized it from the TV program. Charles has attended several times and has expressed interest in our Bible college.
o On a recent Saturday morning right before our soul-winning meeting started, a lady named Serwaa showed up at our church. She was looking for “the man who preaches on the TV.” She lives about an hour away from our church. She said that I had made this statement on the program: “Your good works cannot save you.” She wanted to know more. I was able to witness to her, and she trusted Christ.
o Recently Joseph and his teenage son heard of our church through the TV program and started attending.
• We have had great response from people outside of Kumasi as well:
o Emmanuel has been watching our TV program. He lives in a different region [state] of Ghana. He contacted me by email, wanting to be trained for ministry. He then came for college classes in October.
o Joy, a lady in Nigeria, had gotten disenchanted with Pentecostal teachings and had been out of church for two years before seeing our “Fundamental Hour” broadcast. We connected her to Truth Baptist Church in Abuja, pastored by FBMI Missionary Mark Holmes. She got baptized, joined their membership, and soon thereafter enrolled in their Bible institute!
We are still in need of funds to continue this ministry. The cost for this project is in excess of $2,000 per month.
