A new church has been born! We were thrilled to take part in the founding of the Faith Baptist Church of Kaseke. In September, we traveled to the Kigoma Region in Northern Tanzania, which is 18 hours away from where we are here in Morogoro. We held three opening evangelistic services, as well as the charter signing for this new church. It was a blessing to baptize new converts in Lake Tanganyika. There were 11 people baptized on the opening Sunday. In the past year, Pastor Philemon Nyogoto traveled to Morogoro to be trained and ordained as the pastor. Please keep this national pastor and this new church plant in your prayers.
This month I had the opportunity of performing the wedding ceremony of George and Gloria Mbogo. It is always exciting to have young couples in the church. I have known George for many years and have watched him go through many ups and downs spiritually. We are encouraged to see what God is doing in his life now. Please pray as we endeavor to help this young couple become grounded in God’s Word.
The past couple of weeks, our church has been doing some small construction projects. I had encouraged our people to participate in the construction by bringing a bag of cement. Our people sacrificed and donated over 15 bags of cement. We have been in the process of enclosing our open-air building. We have the front wall completed; and, as the Lord provides, we will be building to extend our auditorium, as well as building a back wall. We are trying to get these projects done before our rainy season starts. Because of the heavy rains, it can make it difficult to hold services.
We were blessed to host a team with Medical Missions Outreach this past week. A “mobile clinic” was set up on our church grounds. We were able to help people with medical problems, as well as optometry needs. As people came to the clinic, they had the opportunity to meet with one of the doctors, nurses, or someone from the vision clinic. After diagnosis, they received the appropriate medication or glasses based on their need. Everything was done free of charge for the people. Each person who came through the clinic was also given the plan of salvation from one of our church members, as well as given a John & Romans. It was an incredible week, with over 2,100 people coming through the clinic and nearly 600 people accepting Christ as their Saviour. Our church members did a wonderful job in getting involved, many taking off work to help with translating, witnessing, cooking meals, cleaning, and facilitating the clinic. What a tremendous testimony this was for our neighborhood and city. Many people commented on how they felt the love of God through the generosity of the team from America and our church.
