“The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul . . . .” (Proverbs 13:19)
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your continued support and prayers that allow us to continue to serve the Lord and the people of International Baptist Church, Dumaguete! We’ve had some very sweet accomplishments already this year, one in particular that has been years in the making. What joy there is in serving Jesus!
In March, we had a Saturday where I invited more of our church members to get involved by helping us try to pass out 5,000 tracts in one morning, all within walking distance of the church property. More than 80 people gathered that morning, others joined them later, as we went out with tracts in hand. We had extra tracts stationed at various locations should soul winners need more. Well, in just that morning, more than 7,000 tracts were given out, and over 100 souls were saved—to God be the glory! We’ll be having another morning like this soon in another area.
On April 23, Hyles-Anderson College of the Philippines held her first commencement exercises with 11 graduates. What an honor to see where God has brought these students. We have great hope for how God will lead and use them. The graduation service was held during our Sunday afternoon service, which also included the high school graduation of our team children, Brittany DeMoville and Zechariah Lawrenson. The charge to the graduates included the Gospel at the end for the sake of those family and friends who were visiting. Many family members who came for the graduation met Jesus Christ as their Saviour!
We’ve hired a few of our graduates to be on the church staff, and a few others will be interning with us while they continue training and seeking God’s will. A couple of our graduates have accepted positions with Missionary Mike Morrissey, who will be starting a new church in the Philippines this year. One of our graduates has returned to the city of Silay to work under his pastor, Missionary Nathan Goodpaster.
The morning after graduation, we began this year’s Vacation Bible School. We held 24 meetings each morning in various areas where we already offer transportation for church. Many of our teenagers faithfully worked in helping to conduct the meetings and in sharing the Gospel. The week yielded 247 precious souls being saved.
Our workers then began the work of following up on the children and families of those who were met or saved during VBS. This past Sunday, 41 children were baptized with their parents’ permission. I am humbled to serve such wonderful people and pray that some of you would have the opportunity to see what God is doing here.
Thank you for your continued love for us. We love you.
