Greetings from the Marasco family! We are busy gearing up for several meetings that the entire family with be traveling to be a part of this next month. We are praying we can be a blessing and encouragement for the cause of Christ and the furthering of His kingdom through New Testament church planting.
In our last update, I mentioned the prospect of planting a church back in Hawaii on the island of Oahu. I was able to do some door knocking and surveying there back in November. After a lot of prayer, fasting, counsel, and deliberation, I believe the Lord has stirred our hearts to plant the next church in the Central Oahu Region of Hawaii. This will be somewhat of a transition for us, in that I will be the pastor and our family will be relocating once we have the needed support. Oahu is the most expensive place to live in the United States and more expensive than the island of Hawaii where we started the Pacific Baptist Church.
The Lord began to stir my heart about this next church plant at our Homecoming Conference on World Evangelism months ago. I have since been trying to listen, confirm, and be obedient to God’s prompting and direction. It has been exciting to see the Lord open doors, close doors, and confirm direction from His Word. I believe the Lord has given us the name of this next church plant to be Rock Point Baptist Church. There are several passages of Scripture that have been used to formulate this name in my heart, including Isaiah 42, many Psalms, and I Corinthians 10:1-4. “Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; And did all eat the same spiritual meat; And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.” Our primary goal has been and always will be to point people to the Rock, Jesus Christ.
Please pray for us, as we will need to raise additional support as we establish the Rock Point Baptist Church of Central Oahu. The population of this region is over 300,000 souls, including a large military presence.
Speaking of pointing people to the Rock, I was able to lead a man named Tony to the Lord a couple weeks ago. Tony had been on the other side of the fence cleaning up leaves that had fallen and garbage that had blown in. I began helping him hold the bag open while he bagged the junk. After filling up several bags of garbage and chatting with him about Islam and Muslims (he had been hired by a Muslim man to do the cleanup job), I asked him if he knew from the Bible that he was on his way to Heaven when he died. After expressing uncertainty, I was able to show him his need to believe and receive the free gift of God from the Word of God. Tony bowed his head with me in the alley and trusted Christ as Saviour. Krista was also able to lead a lady named Sohaven to the Lord, who recently was obedient to the Lord in baptism as well. During this prayer-letter period, we were able to see 5 souls trust Christ as Saviour.
Thank you for your love and support for our family and the work or the Lord.
