The month of August started with a couple of meetings on the East Coast, teaching in some churches the importance and responsibility of being proactive in church planting. We were able to present our ministry in some new churches, as well as report back to some current supporters. While making a stop at an outlet mall, my wife was able to witness to a young lady. Krista found out the lady was from Ghana, West Africa, and that she had been saved at the First Baptist Church of Kumasi, now the International Baptist Church of Kumasi. I had the privilege of helping in the groundwork of this church and mission team. Praise the Lord!
During our Eastern trip, we got a call from a couple of churches offering to help us purchase a generator. We are thankful for the Grace Baptist Church of Marrero, pastored by Shannon Foote, and the Calvary Baptist Church of Waterloo, pastored by Keeton Wainscott, for offering to help fill this need.
At the end of August, we hauled the trailer down to St. Louis and were able to hook up behind the Victory Bible Baptist Church of Collinsville, Illinois. We are thankful for Pastor Chris Shurilla and his church’s generosity in allowing us to do this.
A couple of days later, we began knocking doors and meeting folks in St. Louis and the Fenton area of Missouri. Of the six church plants we have been involved in helping with, this one, by far, had the most churches and groups come out to be a part in door knocking, inviting, and helping during the Grand Opening service. We even had my father-in-law, who is a missionary to Haiti and was on a short furlough, come down and help for some time. We praise the Lord for the team that He assembled during the launching of this church. Some of the churches that were involved in helping with this plant in one capacity or another were Faith Baptist Church, Bellville, Illinois; City Light Baptist Church, St. Charles, Missouri; Victory Bible Baptist Church, Collinsville, Illinois; Heritage Baptist Church, Lawrence, Kansas; Central Baptist Church, St. Jacob, Illinois; and Cool Springs Baptist Church in Rural Williamsville, Missouri; as well as our sending church, the First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana, sending a bus load of students from City Baptist School down for a day, with over eight hours of travel round trip. We learned some of these students got up at 2 a.m. in order to ride down on the bus on a Saturday morning to help knock doors for this new church.
After approximately 18,000 Gospel invitations had been distributed throughout the month and the Grand Opening came around, God blessed with 57 in attendance, including over a dozen from the community. We praise the Lord for another church established for the glory of God. Please continue to pray for the Nix family and the Ambassador Baptist Church in Fenton, Missouri. They could use a trailer for the church materials, as they are a mobile church that is setting up in a school at this time.-
Please pray for our travels, as we have meetings scheduled the next couple of months before we help with the planting of the Central Valley Baptist Church in the Central Valley of California. We were able to lead 7 souls to Christ during this report period and be at the church when James followed the Lord in baptism. Praise the Lord!
Thank you for your involvement and partnership in the Great Commission.
