Sam Marasco Prayer Letter: Keep Sowing the SeedHappy New Year and praise the Lord for another year to serve Him! In December we had a couple of meetings presenting the ministry and challenging churches to be proactive in church reproduction.

My mom was able to come see us for a week before Christmas. During the time she was with us, we were able to go to a nursing home with her and her four grandkids. We were able to go caroling from bedroom to bedroom and minister to some folks, giving the Gospel and candy canes, along with hugs from the kids. Sammy also got to sing in our sending church’s Christmas Program, with his grandmother in attendance. It was neat to see our children being used by God to bring joy to folks during Christmas.

The latter part of December, I was able to travel to Des Moines, Iowa, to meet with Pastor Dan McCoy, who is the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Urbandale. Pastor McCoy was used by God to start this church 10 years ago, and we discussed the possibility of church planting in this Gospel-needy city that has got very few independent Baptist churches and is a rapidly growing area. The Metro Des Moines Region is over 600,000 souls. Please pray for wisdom as well as laborers in this harvest field of the world.

The first week of January, we had another good meeting in Eastern Ohio teaching on church planting.

We are now gearing up to head out West in order to help with the Grand Opening of the Harbor Light Baptist Church in Wilmington, California. The pastor of this church is Les Smaltz. We will be heading down there in an effort to distribute 10,000 John and Romans and invite folks to church on the Grand Opening of March 20. Please pray for our soul-winning efforts as well as for safety, as we will be taking the whole family.

Please also pray for the Central Valley Baptist Church and the Jesse Perez family. Due to some circumstances, we are having to postpone this plant until September of this year. This will allow the Perez family to gain some more much needed support, as well as allow us to schedule some meetings. We are thankful for the Sun Valley Baptist Church in Anthem, Arizona, donating 75 hymn books to this church plant, as well as the First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana, taking an offering for the new church as well.

During this update we were able see 7 precious souls trust Christ as Saviour while soul winning. This includes a man named Jose whom I had witnessed to before and it had seemed to no avail. Praise the Lord for the seed sown that doesn’t return void. One Saturday evening Jose called me needing to talk. After talking for a few minutes trying to encourage him, he said he would like to go to church. I was able to meet Jose at church the next day and lead him to the problem solver, Jesus Christ, after Sunday school. He got baptized the same day. Two weeks later Jose brought his two youngest kids, Daniel and Vanessa, and they were saved as well.

Don’t give up! Keep sowing the seed! In due season we shall reap if we faint not. (Galatians 6:9)

Thank you for your involvement and partnership in the Great Commission.
