We are finally home after five weeks of living out of suitcases while we were helping with an Open House for a church and helping with the Grand Opening services of the Harbor Light Baptist Church in Wilmington, California. We were also able to try to be a blessing in about five different churches during this trip, including three we helped start.
On our way out West, we were able to be with Pastor Tracy Nix and the Ambassador Baptist Church that we had helped with last fall. We were there for their second official Sunday night service, and what an exciting time it was. It was an extra treat to see Krista’s Aunt Julie and Uncle Wayne there that evening helping to prepare for the upcoming Resurrection Sunday. Aunt Julia and Uncle Wayne came on the Grand Opening and have been very faithful attenders. To top it off, Pastor Nix and his son Noah were able to lead Uncle Wayne to Christ! Woohaw! I love the influence of the local church on a person’s life. We are very thankful for Pastor Nix and his care for souls and for our family as well.
Next we arrived in Arizona, where we had the opportunity to go soul winning and invite folks to a church’s Open House. We were able to see 2 young men trust Christ as Saviour and see half a dozen visitors come to church as well. We were also able to be with my good friend, Pastor Michael Moffitt of Sun Valley Baptist Church; I was able to preach there on Sunday night. The next day we surveyed the Phoenix area for a few hours in prayer for a possible church plant. What a large and growing city the Phoenix Valley is.
From Phoenix we headed to Southern California, where we helped with the Harbor Light Baptist Church. The Pacific Baptist Church of Long Beach, California, graciously allowed us to stay in a camper they use for their construction workers. We are thankful for their accommodations and generosity.
The whole family was able to be a part of helping to distribute some 10,000 Gospel invites accompanied with John and Romans. The Gethsemane Baptist Church and the Solid Rock Baptist Church came out to help on the Saturday before the Grand Opening, as well as the Barnabas Team from West Coast Baptist College. God blessed the following day with over 70 in attendance and several people coming from the community, including a man from the Chamber of Commerce and a senator named Isadore Hall III. We had special music that day from the Barnabas Team, as well as a Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony and a barbecue after the service.
We have been able to lead 8 more souls to Christ since our last letter. If you remember, I was able to lead a man named Jose to Christ, along with two of his children. We are pleased to report that Jose’s 15-year-old son Jose Jr. also received Christ. Please pray for the salvation of Jose’s wife Fanny. Please also pray for three upcoming church plants this fall and for us as we travel to Southeastern Alabama to help out with a church that is looking for a pastor. We will be working with Pastor Gerald Heard, who is overseeing this work, and helping with a revival and doing some soul winning. Please pray for traveling mercies, as well as for God to bring the right man to this work.
