Ricardo Leyva Prayer Letter: Seeds of Faith and Hope PlantedIn the month of June, my soul-winning partner and I continued passing out literature—several hundred Gospel tracts, John and Romans, etc.—on the streets of Havana.

From there, my soul-winning partner and I went to the city of Santa Clara, which is 2½ hours east of Havana. We met at the Cuban pastor’s home (the only independent Baptist church in Santa Clara), and the next day the three of us went soul winning. It was a very hot day, but we still knocked on doors for several blocks. Three people trusted Christ as their Saviour. We left literature in every home in that area.

Back in 2002, I met a young Cuban in Havana in the home of an American missionary. On that occasion, I gave this young Cuban a short lesson on prayer and the Holy Spirit for soul winning. Soon after that, the American missionary had to leave Cuba. So for the next 15 years, I did not see the young Cuban again.

This past June, I found him! He now pastors a mission church in the Old Havana area. I preached to his people at a Sunday night service. Everyone was very attentive the whole time. After the service, everyone came to shake my hand, and I was glad to meet them.

I now look back and remember the struggles of the early years, but I also remember the seeds of faith and hope other missionaries and I dropped. Now we see the plants all grown up.

July began with my wife’s birthday! THANKS to all who sent her an email with birthday wishes, and THANKS also to those who sent her birthday cards!

I preached a missions conference in a small city in the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico. Attendance was very good all three days, and God greatly blessed the Faith Promise commitments. It was a blessing to participate in the furthering of the Gospel worldwide.

Please pray for:

1. Power to preach, teach, and witness.
2. Wisdom in every decision.
3. Love for all peoples.
