Ricardo and Maria Leyva Prayer Letter: Back Home on the Mission FieldNovember 2021

The first Wednesday of the month, my wife and I traveled to Owensboro, Kentucky, to report to one of our supporting churches. We met the new pastor and enjoyed the Bible study.

The next day, Thursday morning, we returned home. Late in the afternoon, my wife began to feel sick with pain. In the evening, she could not stand the pain, so I took her to the hospital. She was admitted to the emergency room and ended up staying in the hospital for five days until the kidney and blood infection were completely eliminated.

I had to cancel meetings and just focus on my wife’s health. After she left the hospital, she had follow-up checkup with a doctor. Since we may need to come back later next year for more follow-up appointments with doctors and maybe treatments, we decided to return to the mission field and cut our furlough short.

On Sunday, November 28, we visited the last church on this short furlough. This church has supported our ministry for 20-plus years. Then on Tuesday, November 30, we returned to the mission field.

December 2021

We are back on the field again! While we were in the States, we realized that everything is more expensive now! Now that we are back on the mission field, we found that everything is more expensive here too! We are so thankful for the churches that raised our support.

We had a great Christmas Eve with other three church families, celebrating with great food and fellowship. On December 31, we had a Watch-Night Service at one of the churches in the area. We prayed for God’s guidance for the next year, and we wished each other a blessed and happy new year!

The year 2021 was very challenging both personally and ministry-wise. The Devil attacked us from many angles and in many ways, but God had mercy on us. “Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.” (II Timothy 3:11)

Please continue to pray for:

1. My wife’s and my health (the stress has affected my digestive system’s function).
2. Our finances.
3. The Lord’s guidance for a new year.

In His service,

Ricardo Leyva
