We are happy to report the birth of our son, David Lee Goodpaster, born on October 21, 2017. He was 9 pounds and 21 inches long. The Lord blessed the pregnancy and birth, with all going smoothly and a healthy mom and baby. Jonathan has taken being moved out of the “baby” position well, showing no signs of jealousy and nothing but love and smiles for his new brother. We prayed and asked God for a boy, with hopes of Jonathan having a best friend named David, just like in the Bible. We thank God for His blessing and answered prayer! Jonathan is a strong boy who continues to handle chemo and his life filled with constant appointments, transfusions, hospital stays, and countless pokes better than any of us. What he doesn’t know is that the beginning of the end of this “normal” life of cancer treatment is in sight. His treatment ends in January!
In October, I was blessed to take part in a missions-emphasis weekend with the Faith Bible Baptist Church of Lapeer, Michigan, and to join in the missions conference at the Hilltop Baptist Church here in Cincinnati. During the month of November, I was able to preach and present our ministry in two new churches and report back with two of our supporting churches. I would especially like to thank Pastor Lamb and the Landmark Baptist Church for the surprise $1,000 donation to our Sunday school building project.
Building Update/ Upcoming Meetings
Thank you for praying, as the Lord has answered and given us the long-awaited building permit. Work began immediately on Phase 1 of the Sunday school building. The footers, columns, and floor beams have been poured; the next step will be to pour the floor and start on the walls. We really would like to have the first half of our Sunday school building finished before returning to the field in June. Please continue to pray that the Lord will build His people, as well as the buildings in which they will meet. Upon completion, this should give us room for 300 or more folks to listen to the Bible being taught in their respective classrooms. We now have $1,500 on hand to build and will continue to do so as the Lord provides month to month.
The Boltons completed another nine weeks of overseeing the ministry and had several special days, including a Harvest Party, which our people thoroughly enjoyed. They have been a tremendous encouragement to me and our folks. Our ministry has seen folks come to Christ every week.
God has also answered our prayers for meetings. From January to May of 2018, I have all but six Sundays booked with meetings, including my next trip to the Philippines, which is scheduled for February.
We have so much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving and every day. We look forward to the new year and the new hope it brings to our family. God has been so good to us always, and we praise His holy name.
