We started August by celebrating Luke’s birthday. August and September were packed full of blessings for our family as we continued our furlough through North Carolina, Maryland, Lima (Peru), Alabama, and Louisiana.
The best soul-winning story of our family comes from Sarah. Sarah shares, “An older gentleman, Arthur O’Dere, opened his door, and when asked about eternity, he told us his brother had been a pastor for 50 years. As I only had my Spanish Bible, I asked if I could use his Bible to show him some verses. We were invited in to sit on his couch. After he shared about his wife’s passing, through tears he listened to the Gospel. Mr. O’Dere gladly prayed and asked Christ to save him. What a gem!”
I went down to Lima, Peru, to help with Team Peru’s Pastors’ School. I was privileged to lead the singing, teach, and preach. I was also privileged to preach two weekends at the church, with baptisms each week. The Pastors’ School was a tremendous success. The last night of the event, more than 600 attended. Many were saved, and 74 people surrendered their lives to full-time Christian service.
Our church in Lima won many people to Christ during these months. One activity we had was for “The Day of the Child.” The church was filled with 160 visiting children and 50 visiting parents. We saw 60 saved that weekend, and some continue to attend.
We can see the hand of God edifying our family and our church along the way during this furlough. Please pray that God will continue to use both our family and church for the kingdom of Heaven. Thank you so much for your love, support, and prayers. God bless you.
