Visitors, Youth Camp, and More Visitors
First, I want to begin by thanking you for taking time to read this letter. I also want to thank you for praying for us, and I thank those who have faithfully supported us all these years. Since we got our citizenship, we have had many doors open for us. Humanistically, one might think the blessings are coming because of our renewed purpose, knowing we have permanent residence and will not be forced to leave, but I don’t believe that for a minute. The blessings have undoubtedly been the hand of God. Our move from the hotel to a city center office space has been the best doors He could have opened for us. It is in a superb location, with all the city traffic pointing the flow into our direction. We have had a visitor nearly every week. One visitor on the first weekend of July was a Muslim lawyer who works in the office space above us. He came in (the last day of Ramadan) and wanted to know what we believed. I was able to talk to him awhile about the Gospel, how we are different from Catholics, and I was able to send him away with a New Testament. Please pray that he reads it. I have not seen him since, but I have been trying to study Bro. Mark Bachman’s book, Winning Muslims to Christ, so I will be ready when I get another chance to talk to the men upstairs from us. During the rest of the month, we had a visit from a lady across the street, as well as two ladies who drove down from Galway (1.5 hours). In the middle of July, the whole family was able to be a part of the Victory Youth Camp that themed on Creation this year. It was set up with science stations all over the camp, and the kids got to learn about scientific laws. There were 5 children who were saved during the week. As soon as camp was finished, Kelly began studying the Creation Week for our Wednesday Kids’ Bible Club. We called it “The 7 Days of Creation,” and as they learned each week about a different creation day, the kids did experiments pertaining to that day. At the end of the month, Kelly and I celebrated our 14th anniversary, and just a few days later, both of us passed our tests for our Irish licenses. This was a particular blessing, because Kelly has not been able to drive for over a year. Her U.S. license lapsed last year, and although we applied immediately to begin getting her license, it took 15 months. Also, I was proud of her for passing her driving test the first time, since there are very few people who can say they have.
We began August with Keenan’s 6th birthday. We took him to a zoo called Fota Animal Park, and he was absolutely delighted. Then a week later, my mom flew in from Boston, and we got to spend two weeks with her. Before she arrived, we finally got most of our house squared away since our move. In the church, like in July, we continued to have a trickle of visitors. The first visitor came to a Wednesday night Bible study, and I could see that he had never opened a Bible before. Although he scurried out at the end, I managed to get a Bible into his hands. The next week a different man visited our Wednesday Bible study. The Sunday after while my mom was here, we had a Sunday visitor who came because he saw our sign while waiting at the light. The last Sunday of August, a family of three, who had moved from a friend’s church, began attending with us. During the month I was able to get two different tracts printed; one is an invitation, and the other is called “Better Than I Deserve,” written by Bro. Ledbetter in Cork. Please pray that we have a good response and for salvations as we go soul winning and put these out. I am planning to have an open house in the coming months, as well as many other ideas. Please pray for God’s leading and blessing as we continue to be a lighthouse to Limerick City.
