Putting Together, Teaching, and Traveling
“And Jonah began to enter into the city a day’s journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown. So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.” (Jonah 3:4-5) Reading this passage reminds me of the people of Limerick. As I read about the rise in crime and suicides each week, the need for God is blatantly obvious. When talking to people, they either automatically assume me to be a representation of the corruption they have seen in “Christianity” or as a fringe, cult-like sect. Their minds can’t conceive that their religion is in error and that the corruption they see is a direct result of rejecting the Bible and their religious beliefs.
The month of May was a big preparation month (designing, printing, and distributing fliers; making a webpage; writing lessons; and making a poster for the front door) for a six-week Bible course I did beginning in June. I called it “Christianity 101,” and we had 3 new visitors come to our home, as well as phone inquiries. The course was an in-depth look at biblical salvation. In addition to preparing for this, we were also preparing for a VBS we did for the kids during “Christianity 101.” At the end of the month, Bro. Zemeski in Maynooth invited me to come to a week-long college course about Cults and II Corinthians. He held the courses at his church. It was a blessing and a great time of fellowship with many of the other missionaries.
In June we began the Bible course and VBS, and I have nothing but praise for both. The VBS theme was spies who were searching the world for the mysterious “King of kings.” Each week the kids memorized verses, learned a Bible story, and learned how to be saved. Kelly also had a birthday on July 5 and was spoiled with a home spa treatment. In June I also had the privilege of preaching in Carraigaline for my friend Kevin O’Keefe, a national pastor out of Bible Baptist Church in Ballincollig. His people were very kind and welcoming to us (top picture). At the end of June, we began preparing our paperwork for dual-citizenship. Please continue to pray for this need.
Recently on Tuesday night soul winning, there was a couple standing at their door watching their children, and I asked them if they would mind doing a quick religion survey. They both agreed. As we got through the survey, I found they were disgruntled with “the Church” and apologized to me for their views on the scandals with the priests. I wholeheartedly agreed that they had every right to be upset. As I we looked at the Ten Commandments and I showed them their sinful condition before God, they could see it was an impossible list but couldn’t get past thinking they were good people and not as bad as others. I believe I left there with an open door to come back. Please pray that they will be saved and that I’ll be able to begin teaching them the Bible.
