The start of 2017 has been an exciting couple of months. Skelmersdale Baptist Church started 2017 with a new theme, “Excellent Is Thy Name,” from Psalm 8:1. Our focus this year is on how we can honor the name of the Lord and live a life that testifies to the great name of our God. God is so great, and His name is above every name! Pray that the Lord continues using this to remind us of Who our great God is!
On January 8, we had a baptismal service, and God blessed with 3 people baptized! A man named Neil and his daughter were baptized, along with another lady named Natalie, who got saved the Thursday before the baptismal service. It was great to see Natalie get baptized at the first available opportunity after she received Christ as Saviour. Pray for each of them as they continue in discipleship.
Since the summer of 2016, I have been preaching frequently on Sunday nights at Victory Baptist Church in Blackpool after the death of their founding pastor, Bill Smith, in May 2016. The church is about 45 minutes away, and I have been delighted to help with pulpit supply as I am able while they looked for a new pastor. We’ve been praying and encouraging them as they seek the Lord for a pastor. The church has continued going, and we were able to help a family get baptized in February. The Lord provided them with a pastor at the beginning of March, and we’re excited to co-labor with this church. Pray for them as they transition.
Holly and the boys are doing well. The boys are doing great in school. We have a new family picture, which may be downloaded from our website, www.williamstoengland.com. Holly and I had the privilege of hosting a couples’ banquet just before Valentine’s Day for the married couples at SBC. Six couples came, and we had a great banquet, which we themed “Focusing on Marriage.”
Our auditorium is in the midst of being renovated. We are rotating the auditorium to accommodate more seats to be set out and to utilize the space better. God has provided $2,581.95, and we are praying for the rest of the $8,000 needed. Please pray with us, and if you would like to have a part in this, please send any funds to our FBMI account, designated “Building Fund.”
Thank you for praying for us. As we serve the dear people of Skelmersdale, we are honored to get to do so on your behalf. God is working here, and we are excited to see what the Lord is going to continue doing here at SBC!
For the souls of England,
Justin, Holly, David, Jonathan, Nathan, and Samuel Williams
