Joseph Elwell Prayer Letter: Church in Yuma Is Doing GreatAmerica is in great trouble. We are a sinking ship, and we have nobody to blame but ourselves. We who are God’s people are more interested in what is on television than what God has to say in our Bible. We are more interested in who is running for President than we are in what God says in His Word. The Supreme Court of our land has hijacked the making of law instead of interpreting the law. They may be the Supreme Court of our land, but they are not the supreme being of the universe. Thank God that no matter what our country says, marriage is still biblical and is still one man and one woman for life! Paul said in Galatians 1:6, “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel.”

What Pulls Us Away From Truth?

1. Those who trouble us

“Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.” (Galatians 1:7-8)

2. Those who trumpet themselves

“As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? for if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.” (Galatians 1:9-12)

We are not to be men pleasers but Jesus pleasers. When we are in the pulpit, we have no friend but Jesus, and we are to please Him!

3. Those who are trapped in traditions

“For ye have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion, how that beyond measure I persecuted the church of God, and wasted it: And profited in the Jews’ religion above many my equals in mine own nation, being more exceedingly zealous of the traditions of my fathers.” (Galatians 1:13-14)

God is certainly blessing the Liberty Baptist Church in Yuma. We have not had to raise any outside support. All of our bills are paid, and we have several thousand dollars in the bank. Thank you for your prayers. Please pray that more churches will be started in America and that more people will be reached for Jesus.

Thank you for your faithful support. God has allowed us to see many people saved this summer, and the new church in Yuma is still seeing first-time visitors almost every week. I believe we have had well over 80 new people through our doors in the past 5 months. Praise the Lord!!

Keep looking up; Jesus is always looking down!

Sincerely,

Dr. Joseph Elwell
