In November, we were so happy to go see the graduation of five of our Bible college students. Four got saved and went to college from listening to our radio station, and one was from our church. We especially thank our former assistant pastor, Sadock, who organized them to go there.
They graduated with a four-year bachelor’s degree from East Africa Baptist College in Kampala, Uganda, run by Missionary James Pridgen. The men want to come back to Rwanda to start churches, but because of the 7,000-plus churches closed by the Rwandan government, things are unclear for them right now. Please pray as God leads them to do His will. If our church reopens in Kigali, I think one of the graduates would go there to pastor that church.
I was also finally able to take a survey trip to Burundi for a few days. Financially, things have been very tight for us because we are still paying some workers I cannot lose, still renting the radio studio, AND still paying the lawyer fees for the court case—Aye Yai Yai! We thank those who sent some extra gifts to help us.
In Burundi, it seems I drove everywhere learning the streets, and I went to every government office I could find. I submitted paperwork to get a radio license and should get an answer in February. If approved, that will allow us to get our visas for Burundi.
We were able to witness to several people, but they were just not ready to get saved. Everyone we talked to was convinced that their good works will get them to Heaven. It is about the same as when we first went to Rwanda—no one has heard that salvation is a free gift. Even at the beginning in Rwanda, we were mocked and ridiculed for preaching eternal security. We were happy to preach in Rwanda, but it seems clear that Burundi needs us more.
