We started our summer with Candidate School, which was such a tremendous blessing! Our next stop after Candidate School was Ontario, Canada. One such exciting experience happened on our way to Ontario. We were passing through Michigan when we stopped at a local fueling station. The Holy Spirit led me to have a conversation with the manager attending the station about where he will spend eternity. God had this man’s heart already prepared, because just a short while later (even with interruptions from customers), he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour.
Our hearts were so encouraged at our first meeting when the people of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Brantford, Ontario, under Pastor Cameron Payne, took us on for monthly support! We were there for their Filipino Sunday. While there, my wife was privileged that same week to share the Gospel with one Canadian lady who gladly accepted the Lord as her Saviour. There had been many other opportunities where we were able to go soul winning and pass out tracts in different cities and see people put their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as their Saviour.
We love visiting so many great works for the Lord and fellowshipping with so many great men of God (Pastors Ken Hess, Jim Bianchi, Phil Powless, Wayne Boadway, Francisco Penner, Brian Johnston) and their families. It has been an honor each time we were able to share God’s calling to the Philippines with these wonderful Canadian Christians.
The blue bird is special to my wife because when she sees one, it reminds her of God’s love to her. When Pastor Payne took us to see a Toronto Blue Jays game at the Rogers Centre, we were so amazed at this massive stadium filled with “blue jays”! It may sound silly, but at that moment we felt God’s great love and knew God had great things in store for us as we continue in His will.
We are thankful to God for Pastor Payne, who opened the way for us to be here in Canada for the summer and minister for the Lord, and for Pastor Doug Wood and Mike Holmes, who took care of our accommodation for the first half of our stay here in Ontario. Praise the Lord for the many pastors and churches here in Ontario that had already allowed us to share our mission to Bicol, Philippines, and for the church that has taken us on for support.
Please be in prayer for more meetings to come and for safe travels this summer here in Canada. Be in prayer for God to use us as an encouragement and for God to bless us in continuing to reach the target level of support needed to get to Bicol, Philippines, by January 2017.
Remember, if you want to “be cool,” pray for Bicol. I am looking forward to sharing more great things to come. Until then, God bless you, and thank you to all who pray and give to God’s work.
