My reflections on the past month are filled with joy as I think on the many places we’ve been and the many wonderful people we’ve met. We’ve covered many miles, seen 2 souls saved, heard a 14-year-old evangelist, and loved every minute of it! I’ll try once again to hit the highlights of this very eventful month. I presented and preached on the first Sunday night at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Roanoke, Alabama. We then drove through the night to escape the perils of rush-hour Atlanta traffic. Somebody say “Amen” if you know why we did that! We took a small break at home to repack; and, while we were in town, we had a nearby meeting at Bethel Baptist Church in Wilson, North Carolina. It was here we heard the young evangelist. God has certainly gifted this young man with the ability to preach! It was a great blessing to see someone who is so young eagerly serving the Lord.
Our short break being finished, we headed to the Northeast. We had our first presentation at Calvary Baptist Church in Dundalk, Maryland. We were also blessed to have a meeting the following Sunday at Hunt Valley Baptist Church in Hunt Valley, Maryland. We actually stayed in their beautiful missions house for the duration of our Maryland trip, which put us in a position to get involved in as many church activities as possible. We had three soul-winning opportunities that week; and, during one of them, I got to lead a man named Jessie to Christ! The meeting at Hunt Valley was great; I got to teach Sunday school in the morning service and preach in the evening service.
The next leg of our journey was the busiest by far, as we were heading into New York for three back-to-back missions conferences. We started out at Grace Baptist Church’s conference in Beaver Dams, New York. Pastor and Mrs. Maulucci were amazing hosts. We not only were treated well at the church, but they also showed us around their beautiful town. Our next conference was just a half hour down the road at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Horseheads, New York. Pastor Hack has a great vision for missions, but he also has a heart for revival in his people; consequently, he merged the ideas and had a missions revival. I lack the room to tell you how great a blessing it was to be here, so I’ll suffice it to say that the revival worked, as God moved in our hearts! Two other great things happened that week. First, we met several pastors who attended a special service that week, a few of whom expressed interest in our field; and second, we saw Mitchell get saved during Saturday soul winning! My friend Tim Davis, missionary to Myanmar, was in the process of leading a lady to Christ when I noticed a door open where we had previously left a tract. The man was intently reading the tract, and I saw my chance! I found out he was a fireman and that he was unsaved. He knew how to save someone from the dangers of house fires, but he readily admitted that he had no chance of being saved from the fires of Hell. He ultimately bowed his head and heart to ask Jesus to be his personal Saviour. Please pray that Jessie and Mitchell will get plugged into their local churches, get baptized, and serve God with their lives. Please pray for the presentations we made this month. You’re all such a blessing to us. Thank you for your prayers. They’ve made such a difference in our lives.
