Numerous miles have been traveled, prayers have been answered, and support has increased. Our God is the reason for them all! As I type, I’m sitting at my desk at home in North Carolina, which means we survived a very long stint out on the road. We had been out on the road since early January through the beginning half of May, with only a nine-day break at home as we passed through heading to other meetings in the Northeast. We’re so grateful for churches who have prophet’s chambers and missions houses and apartments. Without them, we couldn’t survive our lifestyle of practically living in our car. Yes, we are tired, but God has been so gracious to us to give us safety and sanity as we have traversed this country from north to south. Let me also give you this praise report regarding our prayers being answered and our support increasing. We now have a very robust schedule out West with only a couple of Wednesday openings left, and we have gotten word that two churches from our March meetings have taken us on for support. The Lord ended this past month quite nicely by having a church vote in the service to take us on.
We had two meetings in Eastern Tennessee to start out the month. First we were at Lakewood Baptist Church in Harrison, Tennessee, pastored by Ronnie Gilbert. We had such a great time in this beautiful area. It was such an encouragement to go out soul winning with Pastor and Mrs. Gilbert, even if we did get rained out. I got to see that he had a big heart for that area. His church family was equally wonderful. Next, we headed to Newport, Tennessee, for our meeting at Antioch Independent Baptist Church. By the time we spent a few days there, we were so fully smitten with the Smoky Mountain charm that it was hard to leave. Pastor Shelton allowed me to present our work and preach the Mother’s Day message. After we finally got home, we settled in for a few meetings that were easily reached from our home base in Durham, North Carolina. Our next meeting was in a place I’d never heard of before contacting the church—Nanjemoy, Maryland! I presented our work and preached both services for the King James Baptist Church, and we loved it. We ended the month with two Sunday services in Virginia that were only an hour and a half from home. The first church, Central Baptist Church in Axton, Virginia, voted in the service to take us on as their newest missionaries! Next, we had our last presentation of the month at Open Bible Baptist Church in Chatham, Virginia.
Almost always after I present the need in Toronto, someone will approach me and say, “I never knew Toronto had so many people groups living there.” As we travel, I not only count it my role to raise support to minister in the Toronto area but also to raise awareness for the need for laborers. I count every meeting in some way to be a success because I’m achieving one of my roles each time. In God’s time, we will get our support, but pray that we are soon joined by many more. Pray for Toronto.
